Why Nadal has never had GS semifinal streak like Djokovic?

Novak has made 14 straight Grand Slam semifinals (and counting). Nadal has never had more than 5.

Honestly, it's cute you guys wanna keep track of every SF they get to but in the grand scheme of things, it's all about them winning that slam.

Personally, I couldn't care less if Rafa makes it to every slam SF if he doesn't win it.

Because he just isn't good enough on a consistent basis unlike Federer and Djokovic.
Consistency tiers (current era).
Tier 1 - Federer.
Tier 2 - Djokovic.
Tier 3 - Nadal.
Tier 4 - Murray.
Tier 5 - The rest of the top 10.

Because he puts all his money on winning slams. Thats why he has 13 and Djokovic has 6

Yup...Djokovic and Ferrer (not a typo) are in the own league.
They should have a new tier for just the two of them

Mainly because he repeatedly had to withdraw from tournaments including Majors due to injury. That alone makes it impossible to have such streaks.
Other than that because his level of play has sometimes fluctuated (which might be linked to reason #1) which at top level sports can be enough to cause early exits.
Is that what you wanted to hear?

People seem to forget that Federer's consistency is not the norm but much rather the unique exception. Sure it has to do with style of play and consistency but hardly anyone is lucky enough to even have the chance to play at that level for years after years non stop.

Nothing more to add.

I guess that explains why Djokovic has 6 slams which is just 7 less than Nadal's 13.

Which is better? Losing in the latter stages of a major to the likes of Federer, Murray and Nadal or losing in the earlier rounds to the likes of Rosol, Darcis, Soderling, Youzhny and Blake. You tell me mate.

True..djokovic fans needs something to brag..if Djoker ends up with lot less slams than Nadal.

So yeah, whatever makes you think Djoker is better.

If one has 13 majors and the other 6, nobody cares. Anyway Djokovic has some horrible losses in slams since becoming a top 3 player- grandpa Safin at Wimbledon on his worst surface, Melzer, Kohlschreiber. Soderling and former World number 4 Blake aren't even that different than post prime Roddick, Tsonga, Berdych, who have all beaten Djokovic as a top 3 seed too.

Next it will be Djokovic losing some matches to David Ferrer on clay rather than on hard courts is what makes him better than Nadal. Next it will be more Belgrade titles.

Djokovic is a good sport. He has a 14 SF streak and has only 6 Slams. Nadal has no streak but has 13 Slams. Which one wold you prefer? Streak... slams... streak... slams...

Hmmm...

as rafa gets older he finds it harder to transition from the claycourt overload spree he always goes on from april - early june, and is more easily upset in early rounds at Wimbledon..

rafa had some 5 setters early on grass in his younger days but managed to sneak through..

missing majors is another reason obviously.

Nole fans are insecure because Nadal is ahead of Nole, but Nadal fans are in no position to be insecure. Both fan base make insecure thread, but Nadal fans look worse.

Nadal of course is way ahead of Djokovic. Not sure any Nadal fan is insecure.

I have never seen the level of insecurity from Djokovic and Federer fans as I have this year. I guess in the off-season last year they were so convinced he was done, getting to 13 slams and taking back #1 this year was just too much. Support your players and stop worrying about Rafa so much! I'll take 13 slams over 100 semi's in a row, who cares?

Funny part is all these threads are coming from ONE insecure Nadal fan...I haven't looked at the others...But yeah Djokovic fans are insecure

Djokovic is on a 24-match winning run (and in his last eight matches, he has beaten all of the other contestants at the World Tour Finals), so this is a weird time for his fans to be feeling insecure.

The last one of those threads is weird too. Djokovic has beaten Nadal 17 times already and they play each other 4-6 times a year. It's hard to imagine that he won't pick up five more wins against Nadal from here on out.

They know in their heart of hearts that Nadal had the best of 2013, and won the biggest matches against Djokovic. It will be Djokovic under more pressure in Australia in January, not Nadal. Djokovic is the main man at that tournament, while Nadal will have the chance to go for a second career Grand Slam.

I really don't get why the goal of every other fan base seems to be to pick apart Nadal's accomplishments. It's beyond juvenile. Get a life! If you can't deal with someone else besides your favorite player winning, you're watching the wrong sport.

And they know he can only gain points there.

Make no sense to create a thread about Nole haven't won a channel slam while gloating Nadal has done it. That sound insecure to me.

Nadal as a matter of fact has done it twice, Federer once.
Nadal has 7 slams more than Djokovic. No one's insecure, TMF. Just wanted to know what fans think about his Channel slam chances.

That's just 5 threads on Djokovic. I respect him as a great tennis player. He deserves at least half as many threads as Nadal gets on this forum.

Djoker is seen as the epitome of consistency...
Nadal on the other hand, not so much

Yet 9 calendar years in a row of winning majors indicates otherwise. Not even Federer, Sampras and Borg have managed to do such a thing.

I think Mustard got the main point right: Nadal might win the tournament. I don't think winning points matters nearly as much, especially in January. Put it this way: If Djokovic wins the tournament by beating Nadal in the final, it will be a victory for Djokovic, even though Nadal will be the one who gains points.

Incidentally, I saw that a few months ago you thought that Nadal was basically guaranteed to win the Australian Open. Given what's happened since the US Open, wouldn't you say that at this point it's probably a toss-up between the two of them, or maybe even slightly in Djokovic's favor?

True. I don't disagree with any of that.

The WTF is indoors. Nadal plays his best tennis IMO at RG, USO and AO. Those are the 3 best courts on the entire tour for his game if you ask me. I like his chances. 55/45 Nadal. He just seems to have Djokovic's number in a best of 5. Djokovic goes on too many walkabouts.
