Nice. Good to see him with a Prince and not that shameful attempt at a Dunlop 500 pj on his old Response.

F O G frame for sure. Specs look good too.

Against my better judgement might have to do a demo of this one!!

Wow, real interesting. About a month ago, when he beat the young lad in Australia , Rafter seemed to be using new Response with new paintjob and even Prince logo . This possibly looks like older model. Maybe one of our experts could help!Would like to know what this string job is as well . Red crosses? and check out old school grip. Think we spend too much time on young pros and not enough on these veterans in terms of equipment they are playing. These guys are closer to average age of board members hers and are mostly not paid to use equipment, thus their choices are more pertinent. Check out Wilander with a Pro Kennex 5 last night in London. And was that really Santoro with a Prince ex03 tour ???

Obviously a guess here, but that certainly looks like the same stick he played with 12+ years ago:

are former Players also as picky in their Rackets using pjs and such stuff all the time? I would asume for playing exos they are not as sensitive about Rackets, aren't they?

I would imagine not, given the fact that Rafter used his Response under a Dunlop pj.

It is firm, with little flex, but not stiff feeling at all. I am playing it with Lux Alu Spin, and a leather grip, still comfortable, with excellent feel.

Really like the new simplistic old school look, specs are quite enticing, might just have to demo this as I still have the old titanium to compare with

Rafter in Adidas is just odd. He should have pulled this Reebok shirt from the closet when he grabbed the old racquet:

Rafter started out with Adidas and even a short stint with Nike before the Reebok deal.

Just saw the Tennis Channel 'Best of 5: Late Bloomers'. I saw him wearing a Nike shirt, but it looked to be early in his career. Or at least before they started even televising his matches.

Still looked odd.

He was Adidas in 93. In 94 he was with Nike. He beat Courier pretty easily at Indian Wells ( I think Courier was #3 at the time). Agassi beat him at Miami (semifinals I think). By the time the French rolled round Reebok had him and that was that. He beat Muster at the French that year (94) before losing to Sergie. Then Sergie took him out again in the first round of Wimbledon in a deep 5 setter. Something like 13-11 in the fifth set.

His big coming out was Indianapolis in 93 where he beat Pete Sampras (who was #1) in the semis and lost a tight final to Becker. Rafter was an unknown at that point and nobody knew who he was. There was a lot of talk after that and people were expecting Patrick to be a major contender at Wimbledon. 95 was a good year and then he started have major injuries until 97.

It is kind of funny seeing him not in Reebok though. Is reebok still in business? I thought Nike bought them out years back. I have not seen an actual reebok tennis shoe in quite a while. Too bad they made good stuff. The rafter and chang lines were better than most of the other stuff out there.

Rafter is back playing doubles with Hewitt at the AO!

Sweet! Gotta set the DVR for when they play (DirecTV has 6 channels of play, and you know this match will be on a show court). First round vs. two guys ranked in the mid 40s in doubles. Should be entertaining. Hopefully they can win a round or two.

When I was watching that 'Best of 5' episode, they showed a few of his S&V points, and I forgot how enjoyable he was to watch. Him & Edberg, two of the most exciting players to watch, especially when pitted against an Agassi/Chang type player.

not make the frame look like it's a wilson. that it has the thicker part of the weight in long strips with more concentrated towards the middle of tape . but either way weight in slightly similar place. (insert witty rebuttal picture here)

So I read he's playing natural gut mains and MSV Focus hex 1.18 black crosses. What natural gut and does anyone know tension for main/crosses?

Actually Adidas bought out Reebok & sister company Rockport.
That is the reason Pat went to Adidas in Oz.
Reebok was hot in the late 80s, early 90s then they got taken over.
Paul Fireman did a great deal with Adidas.
Pat is obviously still using Responses , has got VS gut in there but he is not too fussy.
Thanks for memories & Sinner for photos , especially ones with Rusty.
Hope they go ok against France but will be tough ask.
