SolincoTourBite16 gauge....

Wonder.....
I always claim my STBite16 strings have lasted over 80 hours of play and still going strong.
Has ANYONE broken 16 gauge SolincoTourBite?
I know L breaks, as does lighter gauges.
I know, you say it's dead. It plays about the same as my other racket with the same strings, 3 hours of play now.

^^About the same here

I did have a guy that was breaking it repeatedly within 5-6 hrs. They do also make TB in a 15g that it not part of their regular retail line but my friend decided that was too extreme for him in a standard pattern frame

Sorry but if you are playing poly into the 80 hr mark without breakage, you probably don't need to be using it anyway.

However, I do have to remind myself that you are super human, at least based on all of your posts on here.........

OK, you just confirmed I"m a wuss.
Got both rackets right here right now.
Pinging them feels the same, same sound.
I last played with the newer one maybe 3 weeks ago.
Looking at them, looks like the 80 hour strings have less fuzz and more little ridges than the 3 hour old racket's strings.
One racket is strung flipped over from the other.
The older racket pings higher than the newer, suggesting slightly higher tension.

You should not be using this string LeeD. It is meant to last 10-12 hours per Solinco. If you can't break it or restring, you are not doing yourself any favors.

I'd strongly suggest natural gut. It sounds perfect for your racquet, and will last you plenty long with no tension loss.

Well, I always said I was a Neatherdahl in every sport I've played. I got's no feel.
Surfing, I'd use thicker rails for more float, never feeling the sensitivity thin rails can provide.
Motocross, I used ScottBoots, either full throttle on full breaks, hardly ever feathering the throttle or coasting.
Windsurfing, I use freeride boards like slalom boards, hardly noticing the slight difference in speed theoritically provided.
Football, even though I weighed the least on the team, always played TE and OLB, sometimes nickle DB, a medium sized player's position.
And basketball, always the shortest, playing small forward mostly and rebounded well over my scoring averages.
Methinks, hammerhead, no feel.

Ahhh there it is. It wouldn't be a TT thread without a LeeD list of sports and accomplishments.

You sound like a great candidate for Origin or Monogut ZX.

I swear now that I can't take part in any of the play tests, this board is all about the humor for me.......

Actually, one of my tennis buds, a 4.0 who's 5'9" and 145 lbs, a flat hitter, has STBite16 on his racket now for well over 25 hours of play, and it's going strong.

LeeD, if you like it, play with it. But I'd appreciate it if you'd stop recommending this string, without regard for who your target audience might be. You recommended that I try 16g STbite in my 18x20 racquet at a lower tension. Why is it so important to you that others use this string? Maybe it's just a fluke that it's a good fit for you. So enjoy it for yourself.

LeeD, please delete this post!

LeeD, seriously, how can you *not* differentiate between two "poly" string jobs: 80 hours of play VS 3 hours of play ????

Guys, do your arms a favor and do not take LeeD's post seriously. May be he is joking with us.

Its actually not going strong at all. Poly simply does not last this long without becoming a vibration machine.

Thanks.
Last time out, Monday, it was a "vibration" machine, and I chose to play with my spare, a MG RAD OS.
4th doubles set of the day, went back to that old string, and while it was still vibrating on some bad mishits, it actually hit very solid when I was finding the sweetspot.
I didn't bring my spare 4DAero300, the newer string job for comparison.
Been rainy now, will try again tomorrow, both 4D's with STBite16.

Guys....
I recommend STBite 16 because it works really well for spin, for pace, and especially for duribility.
I've got two of my 4.0 level friends on it, and they are amazed at it's play and duribility.
I"m not much of a "feel" guy, so if you think it's too harsh, just say so.
Of the string's I've used, it matches up with every one, or is superior, except maybe VS gut.
Any thread on what string is recommended, there are over 15 different string listed. Why can't I post the one I like?

Tour Bite is an excellent string. I don't see anything wrong with that.

But saying it lasts 80 hours is harmful advice for most players.

In my case, it seems to be playable at 80 hours. Monday was a bad day, I needed the 107 racket to hit near the sweetspot. But the previous Friday, that racket worked great hitting against an old 4.5 who's still trying to hit real shots.
"Old" is 52.

I like TB. I broke it a couple times in an APD when I was trying to switch to that frame a couple years back. TB is a good string, but not crazy durable. (Goldenset Snakebite on the other hand is stupidly durable, that stuff will not break for a ton of players I know.)

Possibly, durability of a string is directly related to player's swing speed, his ratio of mishitting, the stiffness of his racket, and the tension he chose.
I use it on a 60 flex rating softie racket, 16x19 pattern, at 47 lbs.

Yeah for sure. If I remember correctly I was doing 55lbs in an APD original.

Its more about how hard you swing and how hard your opponents balls are coming in. Mishits are going to break near the frame and don't really count as breaking a string in terms of string durability.

I am talking about the mains starting to move and then snapping.

I have never had poly last even half that long. 20 hours is long dead.

Medium tension in a very stiff big racket ='s short string life. Add a big hitting youngster, who's transitioning rackets for more power.....
