James Bond Movie Game

No, too recent. This guy is now considered one of the quintessential English actors, but at the time of making this Bond film he was practically unknown.

Think posh ginger, English. Chuck the first idea that waltzes through your mind and Your realeyes who it is and you will have Only gone and done it. :)

So many pithy clues there that even my dunce hat was transformed into a jeweled crown as I had a jig in my step to the throne of winners, a chuckle under my breath as I oathed the winning answer: Charles Dance in "For Your Eyes Only."

The Latin phrase on the Bond family crest translates to a Bond movie title. What is it?

West Coast Ace

G.O.A.T.
I´d say early 70´s.
Diamonds are forever
Live and let die
The man of the golden gun
1 and 3 are 2 of my favorites; not a Live and Let Die fan.

Here's a trivia question: what was Bond's quip in 'Diamonds Are Forever' when Jill St. John (Tiffany Case) kept coming out with different colored wigs on? (and not talking about the one about her 1st name)

West Coast Ace

G.O.A.T.
Another one: what is the real name of the building used as the Tokyo HQ of Osato Chemicals in 'You Only Live Twice'?

Could have plenty of questions about the various cities used in Bond. I'm wondering if my love of travel corresponds to my love of Bond movies.

PS - awesome thread.

Would that be the motto, "Orbis Non Sufficit"? Also seen: "Non Sufficit Orbis"?

I would hazard a guess and say "The World is Not Enough".

And Disco Volante, is something to do with one of his Aston Martins??

Not quite. The Disco Volante is a different kind of vehicle. And, no, it has nothing to do with the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante either.

Not sure about the 1st part of your response. Are you suggesting "The World is Not Enough" for the meaning of Disco Volante? If so, let me clear up my 1st post above. "Orbis Non Sufficit" translates as "the world does not suffice" or "The World is Not Enough".

Was it Largo's boat?

Either that or Blofeld's boat in Diamonds are Forever.

I'm sure it's a boat.

No, he is the villain at " You only live twice" and again at its remake " Never say never again".One of the Bond´s classics.Adolfo Celli is the first Largo, and Klaus Marie Brandauer is the second one.The last one was Connery´s last movie as 007

Largo was in Thunderball, which Never Say Never Again is a remake of.

I'm sure the Disco Volante was Largo's boat.

Blofeld had a boat at the end of Diamonds, but I don't recall it being significant enough to know the name.

Absolutely correct. The Disco Volante is Largo's hydrofoil yacht in Thunderball. Apparently "Disco Volante" is Italian for flying saucer (disc). Not that either Largo's ship or the Alfa Romeo car with the Disco Volante name resemble a flying saucer.

Best Bond is Connery and by miles
Best female counterpart is Louis Chiles GOODYEAR
Best Bond Girl is Seymour
Best Villain is the great Lee. Trenspassed today

Lee was possibly the most famous actor and he owed the fame to Dracula.Possibly, the first so called star other than Connery or Moore to show up at a Bond film.

I agree. It's one of my favorites in the "series". It's a shame Connery wasn't in it, so it could get the appreciation it deserves.

Thing is though I don't think the film would've worked as well with Connery in it because I can't imagine him being so tender and emotional, especially in the final scene. Lazenby wasn't a great Bond but for that one film, he was just what the role required.

What's become of the Bond movie game? Seems that it's been sidetracked too many times with "Who's the best Bond?". "Who's passed on?". And other peripheral stuff. Here are some questions from page 6 I do not believe were answered.

But then, I'm not sure that these guys correctly answered previous questions before posing a new one. There are probably also questions prior to page 6 that have not yet been answered either.

Lazeby may not have been the best Bond, but he was way better than Dalton. I loved On Her Majesty's Secret Service. An unappreciated gem in the Bond catalogue, IMO.

Good film whatsoever.I liked him but his shortcomings as an actor are obvious. Not that it takes to be a genious to play the role but you have to have a certain style and flair ( Dalton and CRaig also come short of this although are obviously much better actors)

OTOH Dalton is a very good actor...but not for Bond.To me he is the least Bondesque of the 6 and by a mile.

Craig is as much overrated as Brosnan is underrated.Brosnan is a dark haired Moore and Craig a blond Connery.

Hear, hear from the OP!

These three are all toughies but...

I must admit I always think of Vanini glass when I order a tasty Panini sandwich.

"Weren't you a blonde when I came in?"

Hotel New Otani, Tokyo.

SPECTRE is the name of the next Bond film. What does it stand for?

what car brand was he driving in the Keys during Live and Let Die?

LALD was not shot in the Keys...NYC, Louisiana and Jamaica were their main locations.

Brings up two good questions:

1. How doe Bond elude his last pursuers in the bus chase in LALD?

2. What brand and makes of cars were featured in the Asian chase scene in TMWTGG?

Lazenby was a bad actor in a great Bond film but there's really only a couple of times this is all too visible.

Dalton is a great actor and the first film was particularly good, but maybe too dark for some. I see the current Bond as a reprise of his version.

Although the current Bond films are much more 'athletic' as is the performance.

Christoph Walz will be the fourth Oscar winner to play a Bond villain. Name the other three.
