A massive space rock is swinging by to say hello this Patrick’s Day.

The “near Earth asteroid” – which was discovered by NASA earlier this year – will brush past on Friday.

NASA monitors “near Earth asteroids” or NEOs to predict possible collisions.

This particular space rock is dubbed 2017 EG3.

Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) are space rocks larger than approximately 100m that can come closer to Earth than 0.05 AU.

None of the known PHAs is on a collision course with our planet, although astronomers are finding new ones all the time.

Fortunately for us, today’s visitor is just 23m across and expected to come within four lunar distances, before continuing its journey around the Sun.

Asteroid collisions have been blamed for extinction level events in the past, and some governments – including the US – have got plans for a potential impact.


But it turns out that they could actually save lives.

Scientists discovered that the metals in asteroid clay are great at protecting from deadly solar rays.

They could be a good alternative to aluminum used in rockets, and could protect astronauts from cancer causing radiation.

The flat earthers believe we live on a flat stationary plain,that the sun,moon and stars are only a few thousand miles away and that basically there is no universe as the above are encased in some sort of dome which contains the earths atmosphere.

So asteroids therefore do not exist. Another fake bit of info from a organisation that gave us the 'moon landings'.

The gravity field of the earth is essentially infinite (as is the gravity field of every object in the universe). It is more useful to consider things in terms of lunar distances (still pretty far) or earth radii. 4 lunar distances is pretty far. Once they start measuring the closest approach in terms of earth radii and it's in single digits, you have something that _might_ get interesting. But something getting too close to the moon could also be thrown by the moon's gravity in a weird direction, including toward the earth.

I think you meant to say when the dinosaurs got extinctilated. Or is it extincorated?

Now that was an impressive one to be sure. Estimates have it at 10 km wide. But it wasn't the last one by any means. Turns out that we are pelted by small asteroids with a diameter of 4 m fairly regularly -- 'bout once a year. And then we have the Tunguska event in 1908 in Siberia. That one was thought to be something like 100 meters across. Did a bit of damage, that one.

Don't forget Chennai'65 and the Poobushka event...repercussions are still being felt from that one dropping of a roughly 4 kg assteroid from very much within our own atmosphere.:p:D

I heard UC Berkeley scientist, Dr Bill Wattenberg, talk about this. He said the odds of being killed by an asteroid are not trivial. Asteroid collision is being taken very seriously by scientists. Their plan is to divert the path or shoot the large asteroid down into smaller pieces to minimize the damage.

On the other thread, you said that there would be a single world government lead by the antichrist before the rapture. Here, you're saying that an asteroid strike will immediately precede the rapture, which could be within a few years.

If both are true, then that really leaves almost no time for the antichrist to make his appearance, overthrow every existing government on Earth, and form his single world government. And given that there are over 7 billion people on the planet, they really have no hope of making any significant progress on their project to stamp everyone with the mark of the devil in the short amount of time they have available. It would be a logistical nightmare.

These are the things that stop me from believing this stuff. When I simply stop and think for a few minutes about what it would actually take for these things to happen, it just doesn't add up.

Also, have you ever stopped and thought about how you would feel if, say, 10 or 20 years have passed with none of this stuff happening? Two decades from now, will you still be thinking that it's all just a few years away? Or, is there some point when you might consider the possibility that these predictions are wrong?

I think you're visualizing this the wrong way.

There are large numbers of asteroids and meteors flying in our general direction. Most of them haven't been detected, because the space we are monitoring is vast and the objects themselves are very small. There are also many other objects out in the same areas that are not flying in our direction just to confuse things. In this case, someone has managed to spot one coming this way and not lose track of it.

In that sense, it's not like we found the lone needle sitting in a hay stack. Instead, the hay stack has dozens of needles in it and someone happened to spot one of them.

Light and other electromagnetic radiation used to detect objects in space cannot penetrate water for the most part, and sonar waves which rely on mechanical vibrations and can propagate through water have limitations too. That is why the seas cannot be "scanned" as easily as space can.

Have you wondered why you cannot see the bottom of a shallow pond but can see Uranus?

If you could bend forward just a bit and stare between your phatty thighs while sitting above the shallow pond in your porcelain throne, you would indeed see a reflection of Uranus. Try it sometime when you are attempting to determine the proper timing of a Charmin attack to wipe out the stubborn Klingon colony of sewretchberries that call Suranus home.:p:D

There will be many key events take place before Rapture. The Rapture is one of the most important events; The most important event in human history is the birth of Jesus, the messiah and crucifixion and resurrection. The Rapture is Jesus's return to earth as the King of kings. There will be numerous events leading to this Rapture which includes destruction of dome of Rock, asteroid hitting Puerto Rico, great earth quake, Tsunami, nuclear bomb explosion. One government will form only after all born again Christians taken away from earth ( Rapture) and also new identification mark will be given only after the Rapture occurred.

Predictions are made by human knowledge, either from research or calculation. But true prophecy is words from living God.
There are also false prophecies.

In the past many people including well known self- proclaimed bible scholar predicted when the Rapture would take place, but time after time those were all wrong because it was from human knowledge base. Also there were many false prophecy about the Rapture. They were all wrong because that prophecy came from Satan and demons.

We are not far from the time of Rapture. Our Lord Jesus will return very soon before your young children go to college. That is my belief, which based on from what Jesus Himself has spoken with several Christian believers.

Here's what I want to know. If you're a young person and the world is going to end in the next few years, then what's the point of going to school? What's the point of getting a job? What's the point of getting married? What's the point of having children? What's the point of starting a retirement fund?

If you go to college or start a retirement fund, is that blasphemy? After all, those are long-term investments, which would mean that you don't actually believe that the world is going to end in a few years.

I personally have been hearing people make these predictions constantly for the last 30 years. Since I was a little kid, I've been told many times that the world was going to end within a few years. All of those people were just as confident in their beliefs as you are now. They all thought that God spoke to the people they followed, just as you think that Jesus has spoken to the people you follow.

Just remember, if God doesn't speak to you directly and tell you His specific plan, then you are believing another human being who is either claiming to be a prophet or is making predictions based on human knowledge.
