Felix Auger-Aliassime

Great talented kid with a lot of potential to be a champion. Also good looking and nice personality with great marketability prospects. However do you think that his name is too complicated and difficult for the general public and for a “star” name? Maybe he should go with something simpler like Felix Auger?

Good to see him get his first top 20 win, exciting to see how good he can be.

Hopefully won't be another false dawn of future star like Zverev looks like he may be with his constant big tournament impotence.

I was really impressed with his match against Pouille. Played like a seasoned veteran, being able to go big when he needed to.

Seems like we've skipped one gen, but now there's great potential, translating into wins. The big 3 has max two years left before becoming redundant. Age slows them down, whilst the youth get better - and more continue popping up.

Canada could have one heck of a Davis Cup team someday... which sounds very weird as I type that out. If Raonic can get (and stay) healthy for the next few years, when FAA and Shapo come of age that would be powerhouse team. Throw in Pospisil, who is a pretty good doubles player, and you have the makings of a very solid team.

If I was born with a hyphenated name, I would definitely change it.

I thought he looked pretty good, but I wasn't amazed. Pouille was lackluster. The (Canadian?) commentator was pretty biased.

if anyone might be a natural successor to Nadal, this guy has the (potential) game and talent to be such...

Future ATG with I believe the best ranking for age since Nadal. (@stringertom ?)

Its clear FAA's time on clay has payed off as he seems to now have the physicality to easily compete on tour at just age 17.
Turned 18 today and Fed 37.
Last fall he became the first 17-year-old to crack Top 200 since JMDP and did it five days younger than him. Gasquet was youngest to win multiple Challenger titles, getting his second at age 16. FAA was 17 when he won his second last fall.

In what respect a natural successor? I don't really think there will be another player like Nadal, or Federer for that matter, but the kid looks like he could have a very good career and maybe a slam winner at an early age if that's what you mean.

Fraud actually cracked the top 100 sooner.

"I see similarities in their games!

one based on high margin, high energy, high disruption, and high athleticism.

FAA is the closest I've seen of any up and coming player to play like Nadal.

the potential is there..."

Will be interesting to watch his career for sure, hopefully he avoids the pitfalls of the previous next generation

I was cheering for Felix today with his match against Tsitsi.
Nice win for Felix 6-4, 6-2.

Felix blasted Tsitsi off the court!
Here's why I like his game.

1. He's Canadian (like me).
2. He has short, quick massive strokes that just explode, particularly off the FH side.
3. He has a good head on his shoulders
4. He is quickly learning to control, construct his points.
5. His serve is very good and will likely get even better.
6. He is very quick around the court, excellent court coverage.
7. Good return of serve.
8. Calm demeanor.

Great match from Felix, he really made an impression today. Tsitsipas looked terribly hopeless at times, not even being able to break back in a game where FAA made 3 straight double faults. I sincerely hope that the latest ( amazing) results didn’t go to the greek’s head, I was really disappointed by his lack of effort in the 2nd set.

No one that is currently an active ATP player

They are the largest collective group of athletic failure on Earth

If you mean who will replace the BIG 3 in terms of talent, I would agree with you there.
However someone will have to start winning the slams the BIG 3 won't.
I see some from the new generation winning them as the BIG 3 fall off.

He Definitely needs a pornstar name

He plays eerily similar to early Djokovic (2007-2008)

Definitely has the sliding backhand down. I think he has more potential than Zverev and Coric

I was just getting ready to say that that sliding backhand down the line was very Djokoesque.

Haha, I was just thinking the same thing. Something more simple, what definitely help he get more recognition. But i guess its his surname so he can't really do much about it.
