The majority of the HOF decision-makers can't stand Rios, so it's probably a good thing that he is happy with the plaudits from Federer instead.

I loved Rios as a player, he was so good. But his "big title" haul is so underachieving, that he has left his HOF chances as a bit if a line-ball.

Personality politics could potentially stop him from getting in.

He might not care at all. I understand that the whole HOF thing is a very American concept, and might not carry as much weight as it used to, especially since the power balance in tennis has shifted away from United States.

Maybe he deserves entry into the HoF simply by reaching the #1 ranking without winning a Slam? The only other male player ever to do that was Lendl (who eventually went on to win multiple Slams). Although he gets a lot of stick for that maybe he should also be given credit for doing it without having to win any Slams? After all, it's hard enough to do it on the back of Slam wins and much harder without the huge haul of points a Slam title brings so it's arguably an impressive achievement in its own right.

I think his appearance is mainly due to his extreme fitness routine since retiring and some changes in the colour of his hair.

He carries very little bodyfat owing to his current fitness interests and sometimes it makes him look a little bit drawn.

Wasn't he tinking of a comeback last year or so? Guess nothing came of that, no surprise if you're attempting one at that age
