Generic ESPN/TennisChannel Complaint Thread

I will surely have my complaints. Lots of good matches coming, just hope they decide to show them.

Edit: First one! These cameras are way too high! I'd rather not watch tennis from a blimp.

do they share some commentators this time? normally tennis channel sounds like a breeze when switching to it from espn or nbc

$5.99 to have your choice of courts (and all completed matches on demand) is terrible?

I don't know where you are in the world, but in the US espn+ is $6.99 and would be well worth it if it let you see all the courts. But it doesn't. I know, I signed up this morning.
In the past online espn3 has been very generous in showing live and replay matches on all courts, many for totally free. But not this year. To get all the courts you also need some sort of cable or streaming service that carries the main ESPN - like Sling Orange, YouTubeTV, etc. or regular cable service.

Am in the U.S. For $6.99 and a high speed internet connection, you can view any match on any court?
Who are the announcers, if any?
Are all of the days matches available on replay?
What is the difference between espn+ and tennis channel? It is confusing. Don't have either.

I guess this is a USTA complaint but the opening night ceremony is so cringe worthy that I have to change the channel. Can we see some tennis please?

I randomly turned on the ESPN television feed to see some god awful singing thing going on. I actually watched it for like 30 seconds. Not because I was enjoying it. But because I was so shocked and appalled at what I was seeing when there was several live matches I just had to confirm to myself that this is a real thing I’m seeing. And not a joke.

And she'll be talking about Venus & Serena the whole time.

It's part of getting old dear! You relate to what you know! Time's slipping away from all of us on auto-pilot after 50-55! You're not really taking in new info, but a facade can be erected to defend their ideas and beliefs of the game keeping them relevant! "Chris, babydoll; it's time! Let it go!" :-D

Watched the epic Seppi v Fusco and Busta v Cressy 5th set TB's live on ESPN+. Now watching Thompson v Mager 5th set TB. That's the great thing, you can choose whichever match is compelling. Crowd was insane for Cressy!

well, ESPN showed both those tiebreaks live

That's great, maybe their coverage will be better this year. I'm only pointing out an inexpensive alternative so you can watch whatever match you want, live or on demand.

I think the coverage has been good so far. They showed all of the critical tiebreaks today and did a nice job going around courts. It's much better than the disaster that was the tennis channel's French Open coverage

You’re doing something wrong if you can’t see all the courts. It doesn’t necessarily make it easy to find every match, but keep scrolling, they’re definitely all there.

For everyone in the States, you can watch whatever match you want with basically 0 commercials for $7 with ESPN+. And then just cancel it when the tournament ends. Pretty reasonable.

That is only true if you also have either a regular cable service, or streaming service that provides regular ESPN coupled with a separate subscription to ESPN+. I have only ESPN+, and, on its own, coverage has been extremely disappointing. Today they have shown lots of doubles, and very few singles matches (mostly 'no names'). Guess tomorrow I'll sign up for a streaming service for a month so I can watch some of the better matches. They (ESPN+) did show Azarenka - Mugaruza match today, which was good. But not Alcaraz - Tsitsipas.

The only good part is you don't have to listen to Chrissy on ESPN+. That alone is worth something. But I am missing the tennis. :-D
