Once upon a time, a fascinating game was invented: abcdefg. The point of abcdefg is to score points. More points equates to more success. People have been playing abcdefg for a long time. Abcdefg gradually evolves over time. Players evolve over time. There was a time when the best abcdefg...
A dry twig refuses to bend when a little wind blows. When the wind crosses a threshold, the twig snaps.
No matter the intensity of the wind, a blade of grass simply bends.
Knowing when to just breathe and let go is where all the magic is in life. :D
No, but I wrap 2.5 grams of tungsten tape between the screw and frog of my viola bow to make it more head-light. When aaaaaa say I'm picky, aaaaaa mean I'm picky. :sneaky:
You see, I normally play my backhand with two hands, but in rare occasions during practice, I feel inspired to pull a Federer/Dimmy/Stan/Gasquet and go woLak, grunting and shaking my hair by moving my head and all. The outcomes range from groundbreaking to light-shattering.
Fascinating!
How did that match go? What constitutes your match-ready racquets? What benefits and difficulties do you get from them? What experimental setups did you have in your bag on that day? How did that match go? What were you trying to do? What actually ended up happening? Did any of your...
Five sessions and counting. So far so good. It is definitely a comfort-oriented shoe. Roomy in the forefoot, secure everywhere else. I wouldn't recommend aggressive heel-striking or other forms of reckless movement. One tip is to tie the shoelaces using a thief knot instead of a reef knot.
I am a **strong** amateur player, a member of the United States Tennis Association, a participant in NTRP rated tennis tournaments, and one picky guy when it comes to my tennis gear. I need reliable, long-lasting equipment that rewards me for good play and doesn't require me to change my...
I have mine configured with Pro's Pro Pure Aramid 16 @ 47 lbs in the mains, Yonex Dynawire 16 @ 52 lbs in the crosses, 4 3/8 handle, Wilson Shock Shield grip, no vibration dampener, no overgrip, and a tourna grip band (red or black). I have really struck gold with this setup.
I have tried...
Update: I must have been in a really mood that day. I have now stopped playing with poly strings altogether.
That said, I was being truthful with the original post. Experiments like this are possible with poly strings because you can get away with stringing them at very very low tensions.
Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable 17 (1.23) at 0 lbs is the best string configuration I have ever tried, and it's not even close.
Let me clarify. I normally self-string using a drop-weight stringer with floating clamps. Reference tension is set by adjusting the position of the weight on the drop bar...
I find that Yonex VCore SV95's maneuverability is immune to customization. Mine is 14 oz and 6-7 pts HL, has swingweight in 380s, and feels like none of the above.
Wilson Burn FST 99S, with 4 1/8" handle (I was previously using 4 3/8" and sometimes even 4 1/2", but this racquet comes with a serious butt cap flair and backhand insert..)
:D
1) Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable @ 25 lbs
2) Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable @ 30 lbs
3) Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable @ 35 lbs
Why? It's comfortable, holds tension, and offers supreme control and feel. Opponents very often grumble about the spin on the balls that they have to face. Topspin? Balls kick like a...
I made a few adjustments recently. I switched from Babolat Skin Feel to Head HydroSorb Pro for a little extra comfort. Also changed my NTRP rating from 3.5 to 3.0 due to recent struggles.
It also lets me use copoly strings at low tensions and still get enough spin to keep the ball in the court on deeper shot. Lower tension means better comfort, feel, ball pocketing, durability, tension maintenance, etc etc. :)
Yeah it's the mr^2/I equation. I agree the term "Racquet Quality Index" sounds a bit baseless and is somewhat vague. I would have called it the Return On Investment (ROI) index if it were up to me. Here's how I understand the concept. The mr^2 part represents effort; the I part represents...
I'm assuming you mean the old one, not the new one. I demoed it once. It was my first taste of the 18 x 17 pattern. I loved the feel and spin of that pattern. But the PS 97S itself felt sluggish for me. So I looked for a different racquet with 18 mains and 17 crosses. I got to demo the Burn FST...
