    Lower left back pain...

Mikael - i have likewise had lower left back pain - started a year and a half ago with a disc problem but now think the remaining pain is the QL just based on location and type of pain. any particular stretches / strengthening exercises you can recommend? any idea what other muscle deficiencies...

review: total tennis vs newks vs saddlebrook

i assume you mean for three full days of tennis? the first time i went i stayed two days and felt it was a little short, especially for the cost / effort required. it definitely isn't cheap. if you are looking to get away and do something different then Saddlebrook would be a great idea - like...

review: total tennis vs newks vs saddlebrook

GZim - i have done exactly what you describe (minus the massage) for the past three February's and loved it. Even at that time of year there should be at least one court of 4.0 guys they can match you up with. It is a lot of tennis so if you enjoy that it's really not that big a deal going by...

    Ratings starting to trickle out...

That may be the case at 3.0-4.0 but is NOT the case at 4.5 and above where the # of bumps was FAR lower. as ohplease has since pointed out the tails remained pretty narrow (very few players got bumped in my local league from 4.5 to 5.0 so 5.0 remains a place where there isn't much opportunity to...

PBI / Reynolds Plantation tennis in Greensboro, GA - Experiences?

Thanks Z-Man. Florida is further than we want to go for this trip and we spend a fair amount of time in SC as is. So this is what we came up with. Though the Grove Park Inn sounds like an idea - have to check that out. Just frustrating that there is so little info out there on this PBI tennis...

Since this was posted before the long Labor Day weekend, i'll give it one more shot... Anyone played any tennis at the Peter Burwash International tennis program on Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, GA? It is rated pretty highly by Tennis Resorts Online dot com but there really is no...

Anyone played any tennis at the Peter Burwash International tennis program on Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, GA? It is rated pretty highly by Tennis Resorts Online dot com but there really is no commentary / description of the program anywhere that i can find and the PBI site seems a bit...

USTA Northern teams wins with DIII college kid

I agree there are plenty of D-III players who fit in the 4.0 category (especially for people who are just coming back to tennis after a long layoff as was the case with me) as well as others who are legit 4.5s. Just depends on the school and level of competition. The issue is always the initial...

The mystery of combo doubles league

Yup - just depends on your state regulations. Some states (LA, SC) allow > 1.0 point difference between players for Combo League Season while others (NC) do not. it's all good during local league and States competition. but when you get to Sectionals, it can be kind of strange since different...

    Gamma Strings?

IMO, Gamma Professional is MUCH softer than the multis you mentioned. It is the softest multi I have found out there (along with Prince Premier w/Softflex).

    Gamma Strings?

Gamma strings do seem a bit overpriced. but if you get them at a discount on an auction site like the "Bay", the cost comes much more in-line with other brands. The ones i have used are as follows: TNT2 & Revelation - multis similar to Wilson Sensation XP Live Wire - very good multi, one...

Are you tougher than Barricade V?

do you play on hard courts or clay courts? part of me thinks the problem is if you play on clay, some of the clay gets in the holes the laces go thru and that helps increase the friction on the laces and ultimately break them. but who knows - i am only on my 2nd pair of BV's so maybe the lace...

review: total tennis vs newks vs saddlebrook

review: total tennis vs newks vs saddlebrook

There is a huge pool area and (from what i hear) the spa at the resort is top notch. Last time i was there, a couple guys in my tennis group took the afternoon off to go get massages there. Not a lot of shopping though as Wesley Chapel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Tampa is 30 mins or...

TennisResortsOnline.com also has a deal where you can get a free upgrade to a suite if you mention their offer when booking your room (having a full kitchen is great, especially with the grocery store so close by just outside the Saddlebrook grounds). Quote: Originally Posted by Blask Did...

happened all the time to me on the BIV's - seems to me that Adidas may have corrected the issue on the BV's since in my 2 pairs of those i have yet to break a set of laces.

Thanks! i really really enjoy Saddlebrook but don't have anything to compare it against. but since it so enjoyable i keep going back (if it ain't broke, don't fix it). but your reviews on Newks mean i may have to make the effort some time to get there and try it out (as well as compare the...

Are you tougher than Barricade V?

I don't think the BVs are "horrible" but do think they wear a little easier than the BIV's did. That being said, i have had nothing but good experiences in returning my Barricades to Adidas under the 6-month warranty / guarantee program and getting a brand new pair for the cost of shipping only!

Pro Supex Big Ace is TERRIBLE... For me.

From someone with elbow / shoulder problems when tryiing to use most polys, the benefit you mention above is the best part of Big Ace (though i do still string it 5-6 lbs lower than i would string a multi up)

A little help here on multis....

Gamma Professional is one of the softer multis i've used and has great feel but after some use the strings do start moving all over the place and you don't get the spin. But that is just the price you pay for the feel the string offers...

review: total tennis vs newks vs saddlebrook

Thanks for the post and great reviews! I have been to Saddlebrook and totally agree with your assessment - Howard Moore, the director there, runs a fantastic program. Have always wanted to try Newks but the flights there are much more of a pain (no direct) compared to flying to Tampa for...

    FHs down the middle?

The Bryans play the way they do because Mike (plays the ad side) is the steadier of the two while Bob (the lefty who plays the deuce-side) is more of the shot-maker who can be a little streakier. when playing no-ad scoring, Mike is almost always the one they choose to return serve when the game...

so does anyone know if this is a permanent price reduction or just temporary? was going to buy a new pair in a couple months but may push that up if this price break is just temporary.
