The mother, Holland and the daughter, South Africa meeting in a cruel ( and more considering the formerly mentioned facts) play off to determine the last seeded team.

Well, it is a damn tough one.But I think South Africa is a better tennis country than Holland. And not just because it has like 25 million more people and a clearly better climate.

First, South Africa has had much more top players in history than Netherlands.Second, The South African Open has no equivalent among dutch tournaments. And third, the white SAF population is really half of Holland´s.And tennis is still an only white sport there, like golf and rugby.Blacks play football.

Holland has a surprise Wimbledon winner in the big serving giant Richard Krajicek.A Wimbledon female finalist and multislam doubs winner in the very tall Betty Stove. And there is the small Tom Okker, too.USO and Masters finalist, great doubs player and certainly one of the best players of the 70´s.Maybe the best player of that decade to never win an outdoor or indoor slam tournament.

They also had a RG finalist in the nowadays forgotten Martin Verkerk and some good doubles teams like Elthing and Haarhuis.

The SA Republic has the arguably greatest ever doubles team in Bob Hewitt and Frew Mc Millan.Australian Open champion Johan Kriek. And many beaten finalists at major tournaments: Wayne Ferreira at Melbourne, Kevin Curren at both, Melbourne and Wimbledon; Cliff Drysdale at Forest Hills and Erik Sturgess at Wimbledon.

And they won a Davis Cup in 1974.Well, India didn´t show up for the final but it is something Holland has never been able to do.

And now, the ladies.South Africa won also the female´s Davis Cup: the Fed Cup, which Holland was never close to doing. And the addition of Greer Stevens,Yvonne Vermaak,Illiana Kloss and Amy Coetzeer is clearly much better than Betty Stove singles results.

So, the daughter beats the mother and completes my World Cup seeding list.
