2013 ATP WORLD TOUR FINALS
Congratulations to
ark_28 and
Gonzo_style for winning the regular competition. ark_28 was also the only person to win the WTF last year, so repeating was quite the accomplishment.
ATP SDL ELITE EIGHT EVENT
Congratulations to
PDJ for winning the Top 8 Bonus Competition. As the top point getter, you've won yourself one classy prize:
For one event next year of your choice, you will have the chance to revive yourself at any tournament in the event that a player you have chosen has eliminated you. For example, if PDJ chose Cilic for the Australian Open, and Cilic was eliminated, PDJ can choose to use his Elite Eight prize to revive himself. HOWEVER, you must choose a replacement pick for same order of play in to revive yourself and continue on with the tournament. Once you have used that player, you cannot use him again for the remainder of the tournament. If the player you have chosen to revive yourself lost, you will also be eliminated. This prize cannot be used if the player you picked was the playing the last match of the day.
Once again, congratulations to
dcdoorknob for finishing 2013 as Year End #1. Along with your Year End #1 finish from 2011, you're making a strong case as SDL GOAT, although I would argue that you've benefitted from a weak era. Honourable mention also to
Jeepers and
******** for finishing in 2nd and 3rd place in the rankings.
FINAL 2013 RACE/RANKINGS
Thank you to
TopDawg and
Roger_Wawrinka for doing the vast majority of the work this season. Without you guys, this game would not have been run well.
Most importantly, thank you to all of the participants. This game could not exist without you.
Final Update about the "Paris Contingency Rule": After factoring in a couple of people who changed their votes, the final poll result was 16-12 in favour. Although obviously this is a majority, it's too narrow in my view to implement a fundamental change in SDL rules, even if it's for a situation that almost never occurs in practice. Therefore, the rule will
not be implemented for next season and we'll preserve the status quo of it being a "pure" Sudden Death League.
Have a safe and fun holiday. See you at the 2014 Australian Open!
