I'm also rarely convinced that Williams - outside of the majors- will see a tournament through.

Actually, on a closer look, if Benecic, by a miracle or retirement, reaches the final only 5 people will have a shot at winning the title.

People are so fond of playing the what if? game here. What if Eugenie Bouchard was eating more food, what if she had managed a win during her losing run? I would not have picked Bencic as my first round, but, then I certainly would have been knocked out in round 2, because life is fair like that. I was betting more on Bouchard to lose, than for Bencic to win. I think this might have inspired her, some way.
