For example, after you said/thought that Gojowczyk wasn't going to play, winchestervatennis and NaomiKonjuhPotapova changed their Gojo's pick to another player and those were their official picks. Didn't matter that Gojowczyk played after all.

Unfortunately, as the purveyor of "fake news" this means Anderson will be your R1 pick and you'll need to choose someone else for R2 :p

That's very honourable of you, but you are still in the tournament ultimately. Your pick won his match (Anderson - even if it was Gojowcyzk you'd be through either way). There is no actual proof that winchester changed his pick because of what you said because he did not quote your post directly. I don't think I can simply DQ you on this basis.

It was certainly a dirty trick and the reason I changed my pick. I did keep watching to see if he pulled out and was ticked he didn't.

Interesting - it seems to have been unintentional, so difficult to classify it as a "dirty trick". That said, this puts me in an awkward position as you do have a case for getting a lifeline (and none of the R2 matches have started yet). What say you, @RS92?

Nothing but love and respect for our champion @winchestervatennis but I do think players should be responsible for doing their own research, no matter what other players post. For example, when I saw Finnish's post I did a quick google and twitter search and saw nothing about PG potentially withdrawing, then still made a backup pick just in case he did (which I'm assuming is what most of us did).

Tough to say, I mean, I believe winchestervatennis 'cause he changed the pick right after Finnish's post (I believe her as well that she made a mistake and that it wasn't intentional).

But tennis08tarheels is right, you are responsible for changing your pick even if you see in the thread 10 people saying that someone is not playing.

I don't know.

Throwing my hat into the ring - I made the same error of not checking about the possible Gojo withdrawal. I would've understood if I changed my pick because of someone else and I lost that I would've been out. Luckily, I was picking against Gomez rather than for Gojo. But I would've been uncomfortable with moving on had Mannarino lost his match.

@winchestervatennis , I feel for you. You're amazing at this game, and a deserved champion, but I don't think anyone would be getting a free pass to R2 just because of a rumor of a withdrawal. It doesn't seem right.

Looking at it on the flip side, too, if Rublev had won and Gojo had lost, I doubt winchester would be complaining. Not to say that's a bad thing- no one would complain in that situation, but this seems like having your cake and eating it too.

Thanks! Of course, @Pagoo, who is still active in both tournaments, is the out-and-out favourite to take the spot right now. My chances will come at IW and Miami.

If you think that you don't deserve to be in the round of 16, then you should pick now a player that everyone think that it's going to lose, like Escobedo lol.

Such a stupid decision to pick this guy. Played the last 2 weeks on clay meanwhile the other guy has been playing on hard courts since the season started. It's was extremely obvious that schwartzman was going to struggle this week.

And I even thought of changing my pick to Donaldson before his match against Ebden. What an idiot.
 
That's very frustrating as I'd read earlier on this thread that Gojowczyk had pulled out and as my back up lost I assumed I was out.
