Roddick does not have even close to the 2nd best forehand in mens tennis today. There are many guys who can outplay him off the ground, including off the forehand side.

interesting thread. I guess the reason the responses are so varied is since nobody defined "best". It could mean consistently hitting lines, deadly for hitting winners, hard and consistent, etc. i guess that's the reason Fed's is first. he can do just about anything with it and it's always good. for 2nd, it depends where. Gonzo/blake on HC. Nadal on clay.

Nadal isn't a slouch on hard courts either, or grass. Especially since all of the surfaces are so slow these days. He may not be 2nd best on hard courts, but he's certainly the best on clay, so I'd put him at #2 overall.
