5 strings to try

Has anyone tried the following 5 strings? If so, any feedback would be great. I am planning to test out these 5 strings when I get a chance. They all seem to have pretty good feedbacks.

1) Kirschbaum Spiky Shark 17 (1.25) String
2) ISOSPEED Professional Classic 17 String
3) Signum Pro Tornado 17 (1.23) String
4) Solinco Tour Bite 17 (1.20) String
5) Volkl Cyclone 17 String

I played with the Tour Bite for about an hour and it felt great. Lots of power, spin and pop. So far i havent found anything to dislike it. I strung it with 300 Bio at 52lbs.

Thanks nirianto. These 5 strings will take me sometime to figure out. I have to test them out at 60lbs on a 90 frame. I guess for ones that tend to have more spins, like Tornado, I will string them at lower tension at may be 55lbs or less. I hope to narrow down to 1 or 2 strings I like.

You should base tension on stiffness not spin, since it is very small differences in spin. Add Typhoon to your list, it may be the best of all of them (waiting on Tornado test). I have some tour bite if you are interested. It is crisp does doesn't have the ball grip or ball pocketing of Typhoon, and I couldn't produce as much spin.

Thanks Airman88. Since I don't know the stiffness of these poly so it may take me sometime to figure out how I need to string them to suit my swings. Where can I order Typhoon? I don't see it here at TW.

Just read the Genesis Typhoon playtest review and from another thread. Sounds like an interesting string to test. I may add that to my list. Airman88, how long does Typhoon last for you?

What's the difference between Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power Spin 16 and Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power Rough 16L? Looks like I should try these two as well.

I've tried all of those except for the ISOSPEED and out of those 5 the Tour Bite is the best.

I'm currently trying to decide whether to stay with my current hybrid (m/c) WeissCannon TubroTwist 1.24/Forten Sweet 16g synthetic or switch to the Solinco Tour Bite 17/Solinco Vanquish 16.

I'm comparing them right now and having a tough time deciding which I like better, the extra pop with the TurboTwist or the amazing control of the Solinco strings.

Both are awesome and better than the others you mention.

I own reels of the odd numbered ones, and sets of the even numbered ones. What sort of feedback are you wanting?

tornado is absolutely fantastic! Its the best overall poly that I've used- would be second if barbwire had better tension maintenance, or sppp or scorpion had spin access

pvaudio, I don't know what kind of feedback I am looking for. I know nothing about these strings. I want to string them around 55 - 60lbs and just get a feel of them in terms of power, spin, control stiffness and durability and not necessary in that order. I hope I will eventually come to terms with one of them and stick with it. I do hope that some of these will be soft enough for my elbow to handle it. I have some elbow soreness but I am not sure if it's related to Tennis yet. I have never had tennis elbow in my life but I used to play with Synthetic guts 10 years ago. I have a set of Wilson K-gut 17 that I still need to try it out. Since K-gut seems to be discontinue or nowhere to be found, it doesn't matter if I will like it or not any more.

pvaudio, I just read your thread on hybrid string of Tornado with NRG and Weiss Canon with LaserFibre SNPG. I may try your set up on the Tornado and NGR. I read so many good things about LaserFibre SuperNatural Gut. Did you recently purchase from LaserFibre? I read so many horror story about dealing with the company so I stayed away from them. Do you have any? Can I buy one or 2 from you? :)

Order typhoon from Trapp tennis on the bay. It is a little softer than tour bite 17. I am planning on trying out tornado too as well, but I have some important matches so I haven't had a chance.

Tornado is an awesome all around string... when (well, if)the US distributor lowers the price, it's gonna take over everything else!!

1) Kirschbaum Spiky Shark 17 (1.25) String
5) Volkl Cyclone 17 String

Kirschbaum
seemed to have more power and was a bit more comfortable in the long run. didn't notch the strings as much. decent bite. has a nice sounding "thwack" on 1st serves.

Volkl
tad more bite. i felt these change in terms of comfort/feel more so than the Kirschbaums when they went dead...and seemed to happen sooner. Significant notching. I think these would tear up a soft hybrid faster.

just my humble $0.02

i'd consider getting both again but use them on a certain racquet only. probably Kirschbaum on my Mizuno and the Volkl on the Wilson & Borris Becker.

in your initial selection you must have overread that the isospeed professional is a multi and not a poly. moreso, it is a very soft multi. i liked it very much as cross string since it has tremenduous touch, but than switched to the much more accessible mantis comfort synthetic which for about half the price gives me the same characteristics.

fgs, it does look like that I want to play with poly strings. But no, I didn't overlook that isospeed pro is a multi. I knew that. Here are my thought process. I read that Iso Prof classic is very close to LaserFibre Supernatural gut pro so that's why I want to try it. I am currently playing a no name Poly(LT if anyone knows) and I like it a lot. I have never play with Poly before and this is the 1st time. What amazes me is that the string does not move at all if any. I have it strung at 62lb and I like the control and power. I normally have to straighten string beds after every point. I am thinking that's just a not well known Poly. What if I try some of these well reviewed Polys with control, power and spin. So that's why I picked some of these textured Poly. At the same time, I hope I will like the ISOspeed. The reason is that, I have some elbow soreness now but I am not sure if it's due to the Poly or due to a long layoff. I started have elbow soreness before I play with the current Poly. So I am hoping that I will like Isospeed enough and it's a soft string. Sorry for the long story and thank you all for the feedback and advice.

I tried Isospeed Control which is the 16g version. It was not the "classic" though. The Mantis Comfort Synthetic is much softer than Isospeed Control and offers better feel. The downside with the Mantis is durability.

Same here. I've tried all strings listed except the Isospeed and Solinco Tour Bite is the best IMO. Most pop, spin and control. If i had to choose one of signum pro's strings, i'd rather go with the SPPP given the price point vs the tornado and overall feel and playability.

try alien brand black diamond. It's a soft co-poly with lot's of bang but with great control. alienbrandtennisstrings.com - it's new here in the US - back ordered I think but I can get them as a sponsored player
