What is the best "spin" String?

Pro Supex Blue Gear 1.25
Kirschbaum Spiky Shark 1.25
Signum Pro Tornado 1.23 or 1.17
WeissCannon Turbotwist 1.18
Babolat RPM Blast 1.25
Volkl Cyclone 17
Solinco Tour Bite (What is Best Gauge)
Solinco Barbwire 16L
Other (That Fits into Same Category)

Which of these strings listed is the best "spin" string? I was planning on stringing one of these in the crosses with VS Gut in the mains, so which would work the best?

Thanks

Big Banger Alu Rough. Kinda harsh on the arm. And if you hybrid with gut, that thing is gonna shred right through it.

But honestly now, you can easily generate your own spin, no matter what kind of string you use (Rafa is using secretly using Duralast, which is a very old, stiff, and basic poly).

OP, you might be interested in this TW article. It measures the amount of friction between mains and crosses for various strings. (There are other articles at TW in support of its premise, which is that less friction = mains sliding back into place while ball is still in contact with strings = lateral force applied to ball = more spin.)

The lowest friction measured was between a hybrid of natural gut mains and Cyclone crosses. However, RPM Blast had the lowest friction of any all-co-poly stringbed, so RPM Blast/gut may have even less friction. Also, only a few strings were tested, so it's possible that there are many co-poly's that would do just as well with gut.

from personal experience, Pro Supex blue gear gives the most spin followed by tour bite and tornado..I'd try all of them and decide for yourself.

You can never have too much of a good thing, though :D

The polys you listed are all textured. The friction from the texture will greatly decrease the life of the VS. A smooth or slippery co-poly is a better choice for the crosses. It will allow the VS to deflect more easily while imparting spin to the ball. The spin comes from the main strings.

I've used Topspin strings in this configuration with Klip Legend gut, which worked very well, and Gamma Revelation, which didn't work as well. Legend 16(m) @59, 3 pounds higher tension than Cyber Blue 1.25(c) @56, has been dubbed my 'MOJO rig'. It's so comfortable and spinny that it shouldn't be allowed.

I get about 10-12 hours out of the setup listed in my sig. The textured Tornado doesn't cut through the syn cross too quickly maybe because I string it quite low. This definitely softens and gives more feel to the string bed as compared to using a poly cross. This could be another option to those of you with tender elbows and wrists. :)

According to stringforum.net, the number 1 spin potential string out there is Signum Pro Tornado 1.23. It also got high marks on feel, control, power, durability and tension maintenance. According to that site, its easily the best poly on the market today, and I would probably agree.

For me, Tour Bite is good because of softness. However, Barb Wire is getting a lot of attention from tournament junior players right now. I was at the pro shop all day yesterday. 80% of string job yesterday was done with Barb Wire.

If you prefer soft string, go for Tour Bite. But if you like something stiff, go for Barb Wire.

Ditto!

I would suggest you trying TurboTwist mains with Mantis Comfort Synthetic crosses. Loving this set up right now (although I use the 1.24 TurboTwist). If you want to save a small amount of money use Forten Sweet in crosses. Adds a bit more pop (and seemingly spin) but reduces touch and feel.

My barb wire/vs hybrid felt great at the net yest. Great for half volleys and power drive volleys as well. Great for drops from the line.

didn't experience that so much...service returns at times would deflect at the not desired angle. too bad cause i was liking it up until then.

I noticed that with Tour Bite as well. It looks like it is a bad string for blocking returns (not so much for swinging at them, for some reason).

Some people complain about the fast loss of tension in Barb Wire, some say they did not experience it. What a mistery.

haven't tried Tour Bite but another textured string currently using doesn't have the weird deflection issue.

The best spin set up for me

Hello there every one i dont know why but for me the best spin result came from this set up: Solinco tour bite 18G on mains and genesis black magic 17 on the crosses it really works for me you should give it a try and see. :)

Some strings are very spin friendly because of low friction but when it comes to "bite", the purpose of textured strings i believe, i think blue gear is still one of the best.
