93p

I know there's a large following to the prince phantom 93p, a ton of people tryed it liked it, recommend it.
But how many people in this community play with it, as a daily driver?

Also, as you probably already heard there will be new Phantoms coming out this februari. If you don't play with the stick right now, what would they have to change for you to make a switch to one. (stringpattern, headsize, weight, etc)

I'm pretty sure a good amount of the posters on the 93P thread use it as their racquet of choice, myself included. I'd say it took a good couple months for me to really groove with it, and after 8~9 months with the racquet and settling on my gut/poly hybrid, I've been extremely happy with it. Been playing arguably my best tennis since I picked it up. Every once in a while I'll take out my old Yonex Duel G and SV95 to see how it feels to go back to a slightly bigger head size and 16x20 pattern with the isometric head shape, but that doesn't last for more than a couple minutes and I quickly switch back to the 93P. Not a knock on those racquets as they are both great, but the 93P has a very specific appeal to my personal preferences and performs great for the type of tennis I want to play and develop. The prospect of a new Phantom is intriguing, but at this point I'm very much dialed in with the 93P and I don't really feel like spending the time and energy to try out and adjust to a new racquet.

It’s my go-to stick. I use it every time out. I don’t care if they change it or leave it as-is; I’ll just keep using the ones I have.

I frequently play doubles, singles too, but in tournaments mainly doubles.

Favorite shots are serve and volley (not in combination necessarily).

I like racquets like a six.one95, (pro staff 85 too but wouldn't be able to use that in tournaments due to the sweetspot). Played with a number of modern racquets but I've always loved thin beams of pure strikes and similar frames.
How stable is the 93p, and how is the spin window + sweet spot?

I love everything said about the frame but because I can't playtest it where I live I wonder if you would recommend it anyway?

Seems to me that it's likely that you'll feel this racquet is a nice one.
It is my racquet of choise.
Sweetspot is actually rather large for the small head size and I'd say you get surprising spin from this very nice racquet.

It's probably fair to say though, that it is somewhat more unforgiving at baseline compared to 98s/100s.
I like the 18x20 pattern on this one, but as Subaruvich mentions, 16x19 string pattern would be interesting to give a go.

My daily racquet. Sold all the rest including pt280, pt630, pt57a3, sv95, prostock verdasco, rf97, ultra97, textreme tour 100p.

Played 8 matches. Only won last one. But they were the best feeling matches ever. Serve going really fast about 180-190km. Backhand one handed really grooved in and hitting solid. Forehand a bit off. I recommend this racquet.

My hopes are a 96-97 phantom. 18/20 or 16/19, doesnt matter. If possible a bit lighter so we could play with specs even if it means adding the same weight back to the original specs. Could appeal to a wider audience. All the rest the same specs.

Really looking forward to the new phantom and the textreme 2 tour 95.

It's my general go to stick largely because of the phenomenal feel. Just like surfing a nice wave, riding a fresh powder line, or flowing a tree lined single track, this racket gives you the kind of feedback on a well struck shot that makes you smile.
So while I can't say I play better with it than with any of my other rackets, I enjoy playing with it better than my other rackets.

I personally believe that any skilled player can play with any racket if he's open minded and willing to make adjustments with strings and tensions. So using one with feel and exceptional balance just makes playing more fun.

I will openly admit that my 2HBH returns and groundies are not as dialed in with this racket as they are with an extended length tweener. So consequently I use more slice than I ever did in the past. I also find its not as forgiving as my other rackets even though the sweetspot is generous. Doesn't seem to alter my results. I can confidently say that my creativity around the net is massively better with this racket. My serve is also far more precise than it is with any of my other rackets. And my FH is probably best with this racket because I can get as much spin and pace but more accuracy.

I think if you have a creative side to your tennis, love to use a variety of shots, enjoy moving into the court that you wouldn't be disappointed with the 93P. Just make sure to enhance the sweetspot and power with low tensions and thin gauge strings. Shaped poly at low tensions or a gut poly hybrid work very well in this frame.

Looking forward to going to Indian wells Parabas in Mar and stocking up on a few more at the TW tent.

Unforgivable.

It was in a different thread somewhere, I think the 'tw questions' one.

Well, recently (today) Chris Edwards showed off the new Tour racquets, but since this thread was created before that video (the one you're linking to PBODY99) was posted...
Later read in another thread here that Chris had mentioned something on Andy's podcast or something.

Keen to see what they have in store for for this upcoming release of phantom racquets. :)

Having played and been used to the big ball the Blade 98 and the IGRP produce, what do you suggest I strung the 93P with so that I get some decent power without hitting at 100% at all times?

I strongly suspect - but would happily be proven wrong - that the 'new' Tour 100 is virtually just the new 'Twaroned' previous generation Japan only Tour Pro 100 XR/100T XR; not that this is a bad thing, I was just hoping for something more I guess. "Vive le Prince!"

My 93P is my primary racquet for a while now. Only venture back to my APD2013 when the 93P is back with the stringer. Time to sell off my other "long term demo" racquets...

@Dartagnan64 I'm the opposite with regards to BH. mM 2HBH feels better on the 93P than my APD, maybe because I have relatively flatter swing path for my 2HBH compared to my FH.

Full Stiff poly: 17 g at 40-43lbs
Full soft co-poly: 17g at 45-48 lbs
Gut/poly hybrid: 17g at 50lb mains and 42 lb crosses

My 2HBH seems to favour a bit more SW and leverage and is better with either HH frames or extended length frames. Probably because I don't get as much core rotation into that swing. An un-modified APD wouldn't be as good for me either. I hit my best 2HBH's with the SW Blade 104. 28" and 340SW. But I hit far better FH's, volleys and serves with the 93P.

Sorry to make an off topic question here (didn't want to open up a new thread about it), but can someone please enlighten me as to what Head pallets that comes the closest to the handle shape being employed in the current 93P line?
Because, and correct me if I'm wrong, if one was interested in having the 93P handle shape on a Head racquet, the Prince pallets won't fit (without heavy mods) onto the Head hairpin, right?
From what I understand, pro shops can make a mold to make the shape purely identical. Is this correct?

Since I bought this racquet, I stopped worried about gear and focus on my game. I bought 3 of them, which I string with Solinco Hyper G 17 @ 48lbs. Feels a bit stiff at first, but settles nicely after a couple of hours. I asked TW Europe to provide me racquets on the lower end of the spectrum for weight, around 327g unstrung. So I suppose that if they dropped the weight just a tad, to 325g, with everything else unchanged, I would like it even better than at 330g.

Not looking to change to anything new since I like it so much, but I would be very interested in hitting with the new Textreme Tour 95 with Twaron. Should be interesting.

Another question:
Does the 93P stay true to what is normally considered as the typical Prince handle shape?
Or does it deviate somehow?
Happy New Year, btw. :)

That's an interesting question. It comes with a leather grip rather than a ResiPro grip so it feels different because of that alone, but I'm not sure the bevels are different compared to my other Phantoms. Admittedly I went L4 rather than L3 with the 93P as I knew I was only going to use a single over grip and use it mostly in doubles where I want more touch and feel.

It certainly isn't at all like a Head grip so I think it's probably a standard Prince grip.

Yep, I saw that. I won't be changing in a hurry. In any case, one of my main draws to the 93P is the 18x20 pattern, which I find suits my game better than 16x19.

Doesn't look like twaron has helped the Textreme line. Both the previous versions of the 95 and 100P seemed to have better reviews than the new ones. Perhaps the increase in stiffness didn't help on these models.

It's interesting that many attributed Twaron for the older Head racquets' buttery feel, but results seem different for these new Prince racquets. Perhaps it's how and where the Twaron material are added.

Caution though that TW playtesters may not have the same subjective feel that each of us have. Case in point, Pure Strike 2017 was one of the highest rated racquets but many on this board have subsequently turned away from that racquet.

Old Head Austrian Prestiges were not great because of Twaron, but the whole racket was made only from the finest and quality components/materials.

Today everything's must be cost efficient, profit maximized, customers want the lowest price, etc, so we get worse products than in old times.

I love the 93P, and I could use it as my go-to if I wanted, but I think my game would suffer a little bit. It's a fantastic racquet and it will stay in my bag, but it's just a little too traditional to suit the modern game for a go-to racquet for most (not all) players in my opinion.

Similar feel but slightly more modern and more room for customizing; Dunlop CX 200 Tour 18x20. I am switching to it for my go-to. It needs a little customization to get a little extra power out of it, but after that, it's fantastic and definitely worth a try.

I did not find the pog mids comfortable, to be honest. Maybe strung too tight back in the day. the 93p is extremely comfy and moves through the air quicker at a heavier weight. With wilson shock shield grips and a bit of lead at 3 and 9, mine come in at 12.6 oz and about 10.5 headlight. I can swing them all way.

Maybe a silly question, but what is the mold / manufacturers number/code for the Prince Phantom Pro 93P?

For those of y'all who've had a chance to play with the updated version of the 93P; what are your thoughts?
How does it compare to the old version, would you say?

Just beginning to play with it, trying to see if it does become my daily driver. Have played two matches with it and so far so good, just trying to dial in the right string/tension combo.

Demoed it for a couple of hours. 14 string version. Gorgeous stick aesthetically speaking. Hits a very nice ball. I don’t generate enough spin to control it enough for my game, but didn’t play with strings or the new 18 string version. It’s a racquet I could play stock, however, in terms of weight and balance. One could do a lot worse than this stick, IMO.

I am getting one soon and I plan to use it as my main racket. I demoed one for a week and I started missing that racket a lot when I had to give it back. Also, in just that week, my technique started to improve and I also started to put on more muscle. Even if I can't play my absolute best with the 93p, I still am going to daily it because of how much it helped me improve.

I agree with this one. Adding lead at 9 and 3 or 10 and 2 also helps to enhance the sweet spot and make the racket feel a bit more powerful.

Just restarted playing a couple months ago after 25+ years, and am probably at a 2.5-3.0 level now. I love the almost cartoonish level of topspin I can generate with this stick.(14x18). Lots of practice with a ball machine. It may not be the 'right racquet' for me, and it's less forgiving on mishits, but there's no way I'm going back to the "high power" prince thunderstorm racquet I was using before.

Old thread but I’ve had to move on from the 93p despite my love for its feel. My vision is just getting too old to be consistent with it. I still keep it in my bag and pull it out for hitting sessions on occasion. But I’m pretty much using players OS frames like the POG and phantom 107G for matches.

still my favorite frame to swing. So perfectly balanced. Just wish I was younger.
