I haven't seen any coaches teaching this.....
In order to make sure that the contact point is out in front, for both FH and BH, try this drill with a wall.
FH - racket in hand, stand in front of the wall, as if you are ready to hit a FH, with the front foot about 12 inches from the wall. Now, make a swing while pivoting, until the entire racket is flat on the wall (including the racket head and handle)... This will definitely teach you the sensation of having the contact out in front, (with different heights of contact points also), and how you need to pivot your body to get the left side out of the way for that to happen.
BH - (specifically for 1HBH drive), racket in hand, stand in front of the wall at a ready position, should be something like 45 degrees to the wall, front foot 12 inches from the wall. then make a swing until the entire racket is flat on the wall... this gives you the sensation of how to make sure the contact point is out in front, at different heights also.
Now take the drill to the court, during the rally, just imagine this wall about 12 inches in front, and all you need to do is swing the racket to meet the ball at the imaginary wall. (which also ensures that your head is steady thru contact).
Try that and let me know how you like it.
