AG Easy 1 Stringer, for cheap

Amazon is selling a stringing machine called the "AG Easy 1" for only $99.

It looks really cheap in the photo. Anyone know of this company or that machine? Amazon also carries a line of AG strings, including one that sells for only $1 a set.

What's the story behind this company? Is this the new bottom rung on the ladder? I've never heard of them before.

They have been around since the 70's. They used to advertise in the back of all the tennis magazines. They offered their own brand of string, knockoffs of the major brands.

I didn't even know they were still around. They also went by Guterman International, as well as AG International. Somebody correct me if I am incorrect.

The actual seller of that stuff has what I'd call a poor feedback profile at http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/selle...6684225-7937747?ie=UTF8&seller=A25ZI57Y3P9YJO. Complaints about slow delivery and merchandise not received.

I actually work for this company now it goes by either nrc sports or guterman intl. Right now we are offering free string packages and all to keep up with the major suppliers. They are all quality machines and we do have great customer service contrary to the Amazon reports.

The 2 big drawbacks to that $99 AG dropweight

machine are: 1. The string grip mechanism on the tension arm is pitiful. 2. The tension arm does not ratchet. I very quickly abandoned it and upgraded to an eStringer. My .02 and you have been warned.

Many years have passed (13 years!), I was one of those who bought this machine, and let me say, it´s awesome. Yes it has its drawbacks as Stinkdyr said, but when you get used to it, it does the job very well. I´m a string breaker, I´ve done hundreds of string jobs, my rackets only. I´ve saved thousand of dollars, and my game has improved. The best buy I´ve ever done!
