AG100 tensions

So I strung my dunlop with luxilon big banger at 52lbs, and at first it felt great (y'know the period when you kinda have to break your strings in). Then, I swapped the dunlop shock dampener for a rubber band, and all of a sudden the strings were way too loose. I haven't had much experience stringing so low like that, I just took people's advice off the AG100 club thread. So all of a sudden, its seemed to have lost its touch and control. Does anyone have suggestions on a better tension for this racket that brings out its true potential?

I'm assuming you're not saying that replacing the dampener with a rubber band is the cause. Instead, I'm assuming you feel that the string feels loose after you broke it in.

In any case, I have my AG100 strung at 50lbs and it's not bad. However, I added about 5 grams of lead at the 3 & 9 o'clock positions on the frame, which made it feel more solid.

I don't think the string tension loss occurs as suddenly as you described it. Are you sure it's tension loss instead of the racquet feeling differently because of the rubber band?

You assumed correctly that I assumed that it was not the dampener change lol, should have made that clear. But yeah I thought the sudden change was weird too. I have it leaded up as well, was good before the tension shift. I'm pretty sure its not the feel. The stringbed was significantly more reactive at the second hitting session, it wasn't really a question of feel. Could it have been that I left it in the garage overnight and the temp change caused it? Dunno...

Mine came strung with Lux BB Ace 1.12 in the mains and Lux Supersense 1.25 in the crosses at 54/57.

Initially it felt very tight, but either I've gotten used to it or it has loosened up a little because now (after about 12 days) it feels better.

My early reaction was to try (next time) 52/55 in a hybrid, but now I am thinking 53/56.

Tensions are very personal and dependent--dependent on the type of string and personal based on the person's age, style, preference. I know Rabbit likes gut at 60, and is even considering going higher.

I'm not sure a consensus will emerge.

Yep, very personal. Just as an FYI - I played for a number of years with the C10 and strung it at 54. With gut, I may have gone up to 56, but preferred a lower tension in that frame and its got a 98 sq in head.

The AG100 plays great strung tight. I love the feel in it. I may play around with lower tensions, and then again I may not. :)
