does andy imply that something else than gluten free meals made novak 2.0 unbeatable?

Not sure. Did you read the article? It seems to work well for Novak, did wonders in 2011, but maybe for Andy and many others the gluten free thing just doesn't help much?

andy found out it was not for him..

and the ideal diet for him was spam sandwiches and deep fried mars bars.

Which Andy are we talking about? I know that Andy Roddick once went out to get fast food late night before a match the next day. He spent the whole match throwing up.

He also lost his mojo along with the contents of his stomach. Who knew that was where it was kept.

People claim gluten is just not natural and human beings are not adapted to digest it properly because it was introduced into the human diet relatively late in our evolution. However, I think eating a lot of red meat, which is what people ate before that, is really bad for you because of the cancer risks. I think a balanced diet is best, and just avoid things that make you sick, as everybody is different. If Andy didn't like the gluten free diet then it's not for him.

About deep fried Mars bars, I saw a webpage a few weeks back on carnival foods. Fascinating what you can deep fry (including icecream).

Also genetic modified wheat is really a recently adopted human food. More people are having issues with gluten because you can buy a wide selection of gluten free stuff in non-fancy super markets these days.

Reading Djokovic's comments:

"Every morning I wake up," Djokovic writes, "I drink a glass of water and do my stretching, maybe mixed with some yoga or tai chi, for 20 minutes. I eat a breakfast perfectly calibrated to my body for the day ahead – the same breakfast almost every day of my life."

I know sportsfolk have to be more careful in terms of their diet but this borders on obsessive. As if every single mouthful equals an unforced error if not containing exactly the right number of proteins, sugars.

It's less food with Djokovic and more computer code. One error and there's a system malfunction.
