Any playtesters who can compare these 2 racquets?

For those who have hit with both the 13' APD and the Wilson Six.One 95s, which do you prefer and why?

I've been a loyal APD users for years, but possibly looking to make the switch. I can generate plenty of spin as is with the APD, but there is little feel and the racquet just doesn't feel as solid to me.

Thank you.

Both are great racquets, but the Six.One 95S will feel pretty different than your APD. It will certainly give you more control and feel, but it will be far less forgiving with its smaller head size and sweetspot than what you're used to. However, it would definitely be worth a demo to see what you think of it.

A few racquets I would recommend that would be a bit more similar to what you're used to would be the Babolat Pure Control Tour, Wilson Blade 98 and Yonex EZONE Ai 98. All of those will give you the boost in control and feel that you're looking for while still not being so different than the APD.

I'd recommend putting a demo order together with those four racquets and seeing which one feels best in your hands.

Thanks for the reply, Andy.

I actually demoed the 95s yesterday for a few hours and really enjoyed it. It did indeed feel different, but I enjoyed the new feel. I always thought my APD felt whippy and hollow, hence how much lead I had to add to the frame. Each stroke with the 95s felt a lot more solid and my backhand was on point.

It did take a while to get used to the smaller frame size, but I did enjoy it. I am going to try it out again tomorrow and make a decision after that.

I normally use textured polys like Cyclone 17, Gamma Zo Verve 17, and Tier One Firewire 17g in a full bed in my APD anywhere from 55-58lbs. Also played with Hawk 17 and didn't mind it too much for a smooth poly.

My demo stick had a poly/gut hybrid in it strung at 61lbs so I know a full poly bed would feel different.

I guess my question is, would I need to move to a 16g in this string pattern from what I am currently used to so I don't blow though strings? The 95s is a smaller frame with more mains, meaning more movement.

Ideas?

I am going to try the Six One 95s this week-end. I really liked the Blade 98s, if you want to add to your list of demos. Andy why do you recommend the Ezone 98 vs the 100? Thanks

tdhawks and nytennis-74,

Andy is out for the rest of the week playing a tournament for his Gotta Want It series. To answer your string question, it will depend on the player. Chris, who uses the Six.One 95S, uses 16g string in his racquet which gives him better durability.

As far as recommending the EZONE Ai 98 over 100, it is just personal preference as Andy likes that racquet better. However, I actually prefer the EZONE Ai 100 and I might be a little biased since it is my racquet of choice. Both are great racquets, the 98 will be a tad more stable while the 100 will be a little more maneuverable.
