As a Federer Fanatic, I am cheering for Nadal today

As a Federer Fanatic, I think that is axiomatic, I am cheering for Nadal today.

Why? Because I like him more than Djokovic. But more importantly, I imagine that this tournament victory will mean a great deal to Nadal. I could see him falling to the court and later calling it one of his greatest victories. What will this do to Federer's legacy? ENHANCE IT GREATLY. It will show that the ATP World Tour Finals is the de facto fifth biggest tennis tournament, and a prestigious tournament, and it is amazing that Federer has won the tournament on six occasions with two other finals.

Nadal winning today is not going to change the status of the tournament. It was always an important accomplishment to win it and it always will. Don't let a few trolls who think it's an exhibition because Nadal hasn't won it yet change your mind.

Yeah. Sometimes beliefs can be dangerous if not true. You start believing them if you listen long enough.

If I would listen to TW, I would think Fed is just some talentless hack, who got lucky.

I understand your logic, but I don't want him to win this tournament, or any other tournament ever again.

None of his wins help Roger's legacy... they all hurt it.

This year has been particularly damaging if you ask me.

When Nadal came back I knew he would win on clay, but I wasn't so sure he would in fact win the French (I expected more from Nole) but the USO win and the masters he won in route to it were terrible.. just awful.

The one thing I truly believed is that after this supposedly devastating injury that Nadal would still win on clay, but never win a major on another surface...

He didn't just win a major on hard courts, he effing dominated the major hard court season.. and that makes me ill... WTF is wrong with Murray and Djoker

Nadal and Wilander are the only 6+ slam winners who have never won the year end championship. Looks bad for Nadal to have so many slams but not one single YEC. Shows how weak he is indoors. Like Sampras was on clay.

Murray was just a factor on grass this year. Weak year for the Scot...

yeah... because it matters that Fed's records get hurt (and they haven't been damaged, at all)

Player over tennis logic hurts... the sport

I can't even imagine wanting Nadal to win a single point, let alone a game, let a lone a set, let alone a match, especially a title match like this. So yeah I am not gonna be cheering for him to beat one of my favorite players today. Just in case anyone wondered how I feel.

As a Federer fan, I just hope they play an outstanding match, 3 sets of brilliance to end the year.

I can see what you all mean re: Feds legacy etc but that's life, and records are to be broken. I hope Fed has more slams than Nadal at the end of their careers, but Kudo's to Rafa, he's deserving.

Next year should be interesting year for all top 8 really, cant wait.

I, too, am cheering for an outstanding match above everything else. Given that I'd pull for Nadal because I'd like to see him close this hole in his resume.

Liking Nadal is something that's beyong my understanding I guess. I mean, he's a great player, sure, but he's such a disgusting human being I can't understand how anyone can cheer for that...thing. Ewww...

The Tennis Masters Cup IS the 5th biggest tournament in tennis no matter what the Nadalitos say. I know they'd like Monte Carlo to be the 5th best and the French to be the most important Slam but here's some reality check.

Gotta say, all these "Federer fanatics" cheering for Nadal is a bit disappointing. I don't have some undying hatred for the man like some, and I respect his will and determination to win, but I will never be able to openly cheer for the guy. I just do not like his style of tennis. I'll watch the match and hope for a good one, but I'm not interested in picking sides since I can't really get behind Novak's style either.

And i can say the same Rafa. if i'll listen to TW, i would think that he's just a club player who gets lucky that he won all these major titles...........

In any other era, he would have been a typical Spanish clay court player of the likes of Moya, Costa, Ferrero.
