Asian K90 Tour

I've recently acquired an Asian version of the K90 and noticed it to be considerably different in specs than the North American one (ala Asian n90 to NE counterpart).

The Asian K90 is 11.3 ounces unstrung instead of the normal 12, and is 9 pts headlight unstrung instead of 12. Aside from that, there's nothing really different about it.

Can anyone comment on how the Asian version of the stick plays compared to the "stock" version?

wilson basically reduced the weight in the handle, resulting in a lighter and head heavier racket. When you string it, it will become about 6 points head light.

Thats interesting, cause all along I thought the US version head were more stable, than the asian version. I have been using the Asian version tour 90 for a long time and got a chance to demo the US version tour 90 and found the head especially way more stable than my asian tour 90. Maybe it could be wilson quality error.

The difference between the Asian K90 and the US K90 is probably exactly the same as the difference between the Asian nCode 90 and the US nCode 90, as the differences in specs are the same between the two versions of both racquets.

Although I have not hit with any K90 yet, from my experience with the Asian nCode 90 and the US nCode 90, the A-K90 should be way more maneuverable and swing much lighter than the US-K90. However, it should be less powerful and a bit less stable (especially on volleys) due to the lighter weight. Otherwise, they should be very similar and feel pretty much the same.

correct, I can estimate that SW of a strung asian K90 is around 320 and below, there is about 12grams difference between the Asian and the Us K90's in our experiement

That sounds about right, MC!

I estimate the SW of my Asian nCode 90's to be around 320 +/- 2.

The 6pts head light after being strung is a little bit too head heavy. and if u add a damper or something else, it's gonna turn a little worse.
I tried the ncode90 Asian as well. In front of the net, it is nowhere near as flexible as the prostaff 6.0 95 is. The US version of 9 pts head light after being strung is just a perfect balance.

I just checked Wilson japan website for the asian version. Unstrung balance for K90 is 31.5cm, which is calculated to about 8.8 pts HL.

Actually I would expect Wilson to produce an identically spec-ed Asian version, not just to reduce the handle weight. Too bad.

BP, how did you get the Asian version??

Alot of people get other people to buy it for them.. Problem is, I am in Japan, and I am looking for someone to get me an Asian version, because Japans racquet prices are nearly a 1/4 dearer than in the States..

I have just got my Asian K90 as well from Korea. I won't any time to play with it until Saturday.

The difference from the specs are :

Balance:

Asian
30.5 cm
9 Point Headlight

vs.

31.5 cm
12 Headlight

And of course the weight difference of 20 Grams.

Here a teaser picture for now:

Asian K6.1 90 tour

The asian K6.1 tour 90 is shown on the big auction site. The guy is asking $200 plus $40 shipping! Looks like Wilson and some other guys will make a lot of money out of the new paint job! Looks like I am going to play with my PS tour 90 and ncode tour 90 for a while. :D

The K-factor really has a poor paint job. I tripped over my racket on court and the racket had a knock on the floor and the black paint is slightly scratched, revealing the white paint on the bottom layer! It seems like Wilson need to really touch up their paint quality for their K-factor rackets.

How many points more head light would the asian k90 tour become after putting on 1 layer of tournagrip?

For all the people that have the K90 Asian version, did it come with anything such a Cover or even a Federer doll ?

My Korean K90 came with nothing.............

You do realize that it was a year and a half ago that jmk2888 had that other new AK90, don't you? I don't think it's available any more.
