At almost 40, Fed shows why he is the most talented player of all time.

When down 2 sets to 1, he pulled out the off speed, severe back spin, touch shots, finishing points at net, amazing slices, etc.

Regardless of whether Joker surpasses him in majors, Fed is the most talented player of all time. He has the greatest arsenal of shots the game has ever seen. That’s why at his age, he is still a top 10-15 player in the world. Even with the declining speed and explosiveness, he can do things no other player has ever done. When he played doubles with Joker at the Laver Cup, he was at a whole other level than Novak in terms of racket skills and net play.

Unfair comparison. When ******** plays doubles with Viktor Troicki, even VT makes his net play look incompetent.

I don't know that RF is the most talented ever, but he certainly is in the past 20 years.

You’ve been a poster for over 10 years, have less than 500 posts (some here do that in a week!) and it seems like half of them are some complaint about or dig at Novak.

Charge him rent, my man. He’s rich and can pay!
Why am I in YOUR head?? I’m pointing out objective fact. Most people are anointing Novak as GOAT now or that he will be soon. I’m praising Fed. Don’t like it? Too bad.

I find it strange that someone who posts so little is so obsessed with Novak. Does it hurt you that much that he may end up with all the records? Is it that difficult for you to praise Fed without having to attack Novak? Charge him rent

No. The most talented player was not a man. And the most talented man was McEnroe.
which woman are you referring to?? Please don’t give me Serena!! Mediocre volleyer, average finesse shots, poor lob. Her overall racket skill aren’t even as good as Venus, let alone Martina. Serena has the best serves ever, the most power ever. Tennis talent wise, she can’t shine Roger’s sneakers and you know it.

In all honesty, Fed has lost some respect on these boards because of his advancing age and the recent dominance of Novak and Rafa, especially Novak. I respect what Novak has done. Don’t always like his on court behavior, but admire his excellence over so long a time. He’s earned everything he’s gotten.

Well ....Fed may well go down as the player with the most aesthetic, visually pleasing game. And Novak would most probably go down as the player who's achieved the most, in terms of big titles, No.1 records. It's fine. :)

more talented that Kyrgios? lol no
Oh please. You have to be kidding. Nick literally hits a “shovel” backhand that is 3 levels below Fed. His serve is bigger, but he certainly does not volley as well as Fed. He can’t hit his slice as well as Fed. He’s not even close as consistent with his shot making as Fed. That is part of talent.

I find it ridiculous that anyone would lose respect for Fed just because he’s older now (and so winning much less and losing much more). I don‘t think there is any GOAT but whatever else he may be Fed is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Just don’t see the need to dig at one player when praising another. But that‘s just me ;)

There is not one woman who comes even close to Fed’s overall talent. McEnroe?? Maybe volley skills, but certainly not ground strokes, power and overall movement on court. What are you smoking?

You obviously didn't see Martina Navratilova in her "hey day!" There was a period from '82 to '86 where she was unbeatable for the most part! She didn't just destroy you, she'd humiliate and make you look like you shouldn't be on the same court with her! She made Chris Evert a puppet on a string at the '84 French Open; destroying the clay queen with the loss of 4 games; that last game a pity game served in the 2nd set up 40-L! :-D

Navratilova is a name that leaps to mind here :)

Ummm, going down 2 sets is showing his age, along with struggling in early round exits against low ranked players. Let's be a bit more honest here.

...and Martina didn't have 2 other players kicking her arse during her prime! She took on past and future eras from BJK, Court & Evonne Goolagong to Graf and Seles! IDK what else she's supposed to do to be considered the GOAT? Serena won't have 59 GS or a "Box Set!" :D

I agree that Martina had a much greater career than Serena Williams. 350 professional titles. 167 singles titles to Serena’s 73. More time at number 1. 4% higher winning percentage. Martina was still not as talented as Fed, in my opinion.

I’m saying that while he is clearly not the elite mover he once was, he can still utilize other facets of his game against much younger players to compensate. Virtually no other tennis player could do this at age 40…maybe Ken Rosewall to an extent.

Mannarino is not a 250th ranked chump...he is a dangerous crafted player who offers less UFE. Yesterday he played some of his best tennis i have seen play over the years.

It’s safe to say that I really do. In fact, Federer has regularly been referred to by many tennis analysts and former players as having the greatest racket skills of all time. Is ROD LAVER objective enough for you? Ever read his comments on Fed? Jimmy Connors???

He is definitely most talented player ever. It doesn't really translate to most accomplished but even as a Novak fan I gotta admit that Fed game is beautiful to watch probably more than any other player

if we apply same criteria, Novak's double 40-15 would propel him much above yesterday's Roger performance

let me guess that this poster refers to Martina Hingis

Fed got extremely lucky looked like he was heading for the exit, nothing to with skill just an unfortunate injury to Mannarino aiding fed to an underserved victory if you can even call it that.

In terms of accomplishments it is Jimmy Connors who is ranked 1.
