gn

G.O.A.T.
EVERYONE can play in this tournament,
so join in on the fun starting SUNDAY, November 10th!

League File

HOW TO PLAY:

1. Before the FIRST MATCH of the tournament, pick who will win the entire tourney and who will be the runner up. At the conclusion of the tournament, you'll get TWO POINTS per correct finalist or FIVE POINTS per player if he finishes in your predicted position.

2. For EVERY match, predict the winner and the number of sets it will take for the winning player to win the match. (EX: [6] R Federer (SUI) vs [3] A Murray (GBR) -Federer in 3) If you predict the correct winner but in the wrong number of sets, you'll get THREE POINTS. If you predict both the correct winner and the correct number of sets, you’ll get FIVE POINTS.

You can edit a pick until a particular match starts, however, please always make a new post quoting the original pick. DO NOT EDIT THE ORIGINAL POST.

I know it is the wrong thread, but as we're here and I clicked on the League File in the first post, I noticed that the scoring for Paris seems wrong. I think the concept of joint second places excluding a third place position seems to have been not taken into account when it comes to the scoring. The scoring table tab talks about 4th place getting 8 points, yet for Paris, they have 9 points. All places below 4th also have one extra point, except 12th place, which has a half extra point.

There are also similar scoring anomalies in Shanghai, Halle, Queens, FO and Miami due to tied scores offsetting the scoring. Perhaps these points allocation errors should be rectified before the end of the season.

We have been using dense ranking points system. If two players are tied for 2nd position with same correct picks, the next player would take the 3rd place in that case.
The same method was used before I took over. 2015 League File

If that’s what we’re doing then that’s fine, but it isn’t that consistent.

Imagine a five way tie at the top in a GS, would the sixth player then get 18 points? That’s five additional points than he or she would get if there was no tie above them. That seems far too generous. An unlikely eventuality but it illustrates my point.

But if that’s the rule then ok.

Hm, if I understand correctly, anyone can play this? I'd like to try with the aim of perhaps participating regularly next year. The Power play league is a blast and adds interest to watching matches - this one looks like more work but I'll give it a go.
