Vaccines play a different role to quarantine. At the moment we need both.

We are talking about a special type of quarantine. A quarantine of healthy athletes. What is the downside of vaccinating them and bypassing the quarantine? Or at least loosening the quarantine so players would not need to locked up in their rooms for weeks.

If you truly believed in the vaccine you would be supporting this instead of endlessly calling for quarantines and lockdowns.

Young and healthy people are supposed to be at the end of the vaccine queue.

Stop the lies. You know that this is a special case.

Your Australian Open ferried these 100 players over in specially chartered planes.

Why? Because these players generate huge revenue for Australia. Don't tell us that these few players cannot receive a vaccine, avoid draconian quarantine restrictions and play to their best level for the sponsoring event.

I have not heard from the ATP that they can get supplies, and can you imagine the uproar if healthy athletes queue jump in their home countries?

American (and presumably Aussie) citizens are not rushing to the queue. Very prudent. So there will be no uproar.

If only 50% take up the vaccine, then herd immunity will never be achieved and more dangerous mutants will emerge. Life will never get back to some sort of normality.

Boris Johnson was exploring the herd immunity option long before the vaccine. So obviously herd immunity is achieved through a combination of natural immunity and vaccinations.

Johnson was wrong about letting the virus run wild and has now shifted to the Australian point of view, but the virus is already endemic in the British population.

His task now is to get the rate of vaccinated above 70% and hope that the anti-vaxxers won't foil that policy.

The UK population is 60 million. 5 million officially reported infections. Millions more not reported -- it could be widely prevalent in the population.

Surely you are not suggesting that those in the UK who have already recovered should take the vaccine.

The immunity from the virus in those that had it is an estimated 6-8 months, and not against the new strains, so they have every incentive to vaccinate.
