Babolat Propulse 3 owners: Is the upper too soft??

undermind

New User
The only real issue I've read in the reviews of the Propulse 3 have been that people say the uppers are a little more malleable (or softer) than they are used to. This was mainly based on the TennisWarehouse video review; but most of the reviewers said the same thing.

So I'm just wondering from owners that are wearing them day in and day out on the courts - do you think they're too soft?

Also, what insoles do people like with these? I'm undecided between the Asics Resolution 3's and the Propulse 3's, and the Babolat's lack the arch support the Resolutions have..

Thanks!

Hey mate

I've owned a pair for 2 weeks now and I play almost every day

for 2-3 hours. I must say they feel great on my feet. The

uppers are soft yes but are comfy and do not affect you on

court but it does give you a little more room than most shoes

(they are very breathable compared to other shoes and are a

huge improvement over the Propulse 2's). The insoles feel

great and very cushioned, they really mould to your feet. I

don't no much about the latest Gel-Resoltution 3 but I can say I

don't know how the insole could get any better. The arch

support is adequate (I have a medium to high arch foot) and

the only time my arch starts to ache is when I've been wearing

them for at least 8 hours, i.e playing tennis and then wearing

them for the rest of the day or vice-versa.

I thought I'd write a mini-review if you need it: I genuinely

feel I'm getting to the ball faster than I used to because of the

exact pro-pulser and the traction is superb along with the

durability. The cushioning in the heel is goodish with the new

kompressor technology, the only time my heel starts to aches

is when you stand around in doubles for a long time. Also, the

cushioning in the forefoot in't up to par although you don't

notice it until you land heavily (compared to Nike Coutballistec

2.3's). The straps on the shoe are very good but sometimes (I

don't know if it is the back-strap or just the shoe) your achilles

heel can feel quite painful and weak when worn for a couple of

hours, however, this only lasted for a week. The laces are far

too long and you have to tie them into a double or triple knot

to keep them from dangling on the ground but you still have to

be careful (I've already been careful but one time the laces

have snapped in half literally so the lace is about 15cm short

on one side because I trod on it). One last thing is that when

buying them go up a whole size because mine were

outrageously small when I ordered a 9.5 (UK Size, America =

UK +1) and I had to order a 10.5 which was perfect.

Hope it helps

I've been wearing the Junior Propulse 3's for about a month/2months now. Most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. I wear them to school and on the court, the upper is not too soft at all. They feel really great if you make them snug with the footbelts and all. Feels like there are pillows supporting your ankles. I highly recommend them...:)
