Babolat Pure Storm Tour comparison

When I was demoing racquets a few years ago, I really liked the old Babolat Pure Control Team. I ended up getting the Head Flexpoint Prestige for the added control. Now that I'm back in the market and looking for a little extra power, I'm wondering if either the Pure Storm Tour or the Pure Storm Tour GT are anything like the old Pure Control.

I remembered that I really liked the PCT but the stiffness was a bit too much for me.

The PST series are a lot less powerful so you might want to look at the K95 or the PD if you want more power.

The PST has about "average" power I would say. You need a reasonably full swing, buts its not as demanding as say a Prestige. You can also string it a little towards the low end of the range for added pop and plushness.

Unfortunately, I never tried the Pure Control, so I cant help there, but I love my PST :)

You should be more specific.......about the K95
I had the K95 18x20 and it certainly is not more powerful than my current PST or PST GT's.

You must be talking about the K95 16x18, correct ?

There were two versions of the Pure Control - one had a swirly paint job while the one did not. If you tried the racquet pre 2003 you would have most likey tried the swirly model, post 2003 the non-swirl.

I used (still do sometimes) the 2003 Pure Control (standard). I also used the original Pure Storm Tour. Now I use the Pure Storm GT (non-Tour) and I think it plays a lot like the Pure Control. I like the Pure Storm GT better for balls out of the air.

I would try both versions of the GT (Tour and non-Tour) and see how you like those.

Anyone else with a PST have trouble getting a lot of pop into their serves? I have no problem with groundstrokes, but cant seem to get a lot of power into my serve??? Would some lead @ 12 help? I dont want to make it more headheavy though.

I used the PST (non-GT) for two years. Had the same problem at first getting speed on first serve, then something clicked and it became the best serving racket on first serves that I used during that time (tried a bunch of others, but always went back to PST for league matches). If you hit a hard spin rather than flat you'll get a ton of action on the ball, even heavier than a flat serve for whatever reason. My two complaints with the PST were maneuverability at the net, and the second serve. For some reason, maybe the woofer system, it didn't feel very accurate on second serves, and I couldn't figure out when the racket was going to grab the ball. I hit some awful second serves that spun into the middle of the net. Didn't happen with the other rackets, and hasn't happened since. The best serving rackets I used during that time were the MGPP, and the K95 16x18. The MGPP hit great flat serves, didn't spin the ball as well as the PST, but I never double faulted with it either. It was actually a TGK238.2 that I got rid of, unfortunately.

So dont try and hit it flat, but try and hit a hard slice?

Not exactly I know that the power rating on TW for the pst is 76 while the K95 is rated 74 for both but somehow when I tried the K95 18x20 I found myself blasting balls all over the place. Granted I had no idea of what strings it had but overall I remembered that it felt a lot more powerful than the PCT.

That's just me LOL!

PST is great for serving, I can hit all kinds of serves with so much control.
my problem is that I cant get my groundstrokes going as I like with this stick, it just feels to flexy and unstable somehow:confused:

funny how Ihave the opposite problem ??? :)

key for me with groundstrokes was to get the racquet back BEFORE the ball bounces and be in good position to transfer my body into the shot. If I am late, I tend to use all arm.
