Battle of the +quarter inch pleeners?

I've recently demo'd the Wilson Steam & Becker NYC (as well as the Organix 5, thinking about adding a ton of weight to it, but gave up on the idea), planning on the Pacific X-Fast Pro 100 and Wilson PS 100 next. Maybe also the ProKennex Ionic Ki 15 PSE (although this looks like more of a pure tweener).

So far, the NYC was the most pleasant on ground strokes, but the Steam was much better on serve than the NYC.

I loved them both, but prefer the Steam for the serve, even after adding lead to the NYC.

I'm very excited to try the Pacific racquet... but am curious about it not being on the Pacific website. At least, not that I can find it.

Does anybody else have any suggestions for a players tweener that is over 27" but under 27.5"?

The steam I had seemed to have a bit more swingweight than spec and it worked well on serve, which is not how the tw review went.

Yeah, mine felt like it had a higher swing weight too. But when I did the measurement (hang it on some pencils, time 10 swings, use the TWU swing weight tool) it ended up being right on spec.

The weight and balance were close to spec as well.

TW Steam review doesnt paint a desirable picture of the Steam. But it seems to gets more props here on the boards.
Haven't tried it. Like too.. I have a NYC and its decent. Just would like try the Steam and give a good comparison to the NYC...

Yeah, it's worth a shot. Most local shops will have it in stock, so you don't need to do a full $20 demo set from TW if you don't want to.

I just ordered some more demos from TW yesterday, so I should have them next week.

I'm going back in my mind and rethinking the Organix 5 (27.25" 100sqin head 23mm beam). If I added a heavy leather grip, I could get it up to 300g strung with a damper. Then adding 10g of lead to get it up to Steam & NYC weight doesn't seem so bad.

The steam's beam is reminiscent of the npro although it's a 100" and it's extended length - 23mm and a squarish throat but a round beam - and other specs are almost the same.

Interesting observation. I never tried the npro... The ncode line come out when I was off tennis for a few years.
