Best Assets of Pro Tennis Players

As related to current active players since they are visable now. It's interesting how the current number ones, ATP and WTA have the best all around games however they don't possess all the best assets in a pro player. I'll try to keep it related to tennis skills. Here's my picks.

Serve - Roddick, first and especially second serve.
Returns - Federer, safe and consistent.
Forehand - Federer, though it can go off it eventually prevails. Got to appreciate that racquet head speed.
Backhand - Djokovics' is money. Henin's Topspin, for offense and Federers' slice, I think is the best slice in the game right now.
Volleys - Have to give the edge to Henman since he commits so quick though Federer's is a close second.
Grinder - I love grinders and it's a toss up between Nadal and Djokovic. This can also be considered speed but somehow I don't picture Blake as a grinder.
Mental - Nadals' composure is something I strive for in my own measly 4.0 game.
Sportmanship - Interesting how I can't choose just one here and how none of them are from the WTA. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Blake are my solid picks.

After looking at my list, it's easy to see why the top players are where they're at since they possess most of these assets. What's your picks?

I would put Blake in the return category. Gonzales in the forehand. Karlovic in the serve with Roddick, and Federer for his placement and ability to come up with big serves on big points. Mental, I'd add sharapova (ducks sucker punches from multiple directions). No, I'm serious. Volleys, I'd say Federer as well. Grinder: Hewitt.

I disagree with most of this list First of all one question, how is grinder included in this? What does that even mean? Maybe you are thinking defense?

You could make an arguement for Gasquets backhand over Djockovic's but that is worthy at least. Djokovic, Blake, and Nadal shouldn't be near the top of the sportsmanship thing. It looks like you picked four guys to put in everyone of these things. Federer's volleys aren't anything special at all, he isn't that good at EVERYTHING lol.

As for Federer winning the best return game, no way. I picked Nadal but there are a lot of other guys with better return stats than Fed.

Dude are you an idiot? Grinder means that they grind the points out. They have a steady baseline game, no apparent weapons to speak of. They are just really steady players. As far as tennis goes on clay grinders are the essence of a clay courter. If you are a tennis fan you have had to have heard the word "grinder" being referred to a tennis player.

huh? the return is the worst part of nadal's game. sure, he breaks a lot but a big reason is b/c if he does get the ball back in play then his groundstrokes take over. also, he wins so many tournaments on clay that there is a better chance that he will break.
