Best crank machine under $1000

Looking to buy a new machine. I am currently using the ATS SS2 with flying clamps. I want a stand up crank machine preferably under a $1000. Right now I am looking at the Gamma 5003 and the Alpha Axis Pro/Blu-DC Plus. I know the Neos is the best in this category but right now is a little bit much. Any info would be helpful, thanks.

JV, these are similar machines, but I think the Alpha Blu-DC is the way to go. You get a string and grip package with it which helps make up for the price difference. Check with Alpha to see if a tools package comes with it also. You will need an awl, diagonal cutters and needle nose pliers. I much prefer the type of turntable brake on the Alpha machine. I use the brake on my machine when tieing off and sometimes when weaving the crosses at the head and throat. Send an e-mail to Mark Gonzalez, mark@alphatennis.com. He can answer any questions you have about their machines. I would also be tempted to look at the Silent Partner DG. It is $999 and offers electronic constant pull tensioning. David Pavlich of this board has one of these and always had good things to say about it.

I've owned a Gamma 5003 for almost two tears now. It's been absolutely reliable. I can;t think of a thing that I'd change. You also get a nice string and grip package with the Gamma. I used quite a bit of the string on customer racquets to net down the cost of the machine. If I had to buy a machine right now, I'd get another 5003.

I agree Gamma 5003

I agree! I have a Gamma 5003 and it's a very solidly built machine. I really like the 6 point mounting system. I checked the calibration after about 200 racquets and it was still dead on! Also I did get a lot of strings with the deal so it was definitely worth it. It also has the 6 point mounting which holds any frame securely.
