Trying to figure out where is best to retire.

Warm weather to play tennis year round.
-Tennis clubs. usta. Clinics. Nice public courts.
Good food and things to do.
Traffic light.
Casinos.
Cost of living not outrageous.
Safe and relaxing.

Any ideas? Nirvana lol?

I vacationed in Hilton Head Island, SC a few years ago. Didn’t play tennis but I know there are lots of clubs and tennis facilities down there, many college tennis teams take spring trips there. Nice weather and the cost of living just outside the island or in nearby Georgia would be pretty reasonable

There's actually an entire thread on this already. I don't have a good answer for you, I would have said Florida like maybe Longboat Key, but after spending some time in Florida recently I could not recommend living there. San Diego seems like a great choice but the cost of living....

I’m thinking San Diego is number one option.

What exactly does this mean ??

Wasn't Hilton Head in the news recently for a crocodile that bit a lady who was walking her dog.

Crocs in SC, how did that happen ? I lived in SC for a year long back and never heard of Crocs. I thought they were in Florida.
btw, it rains quite a bit in SC. Otherwise a nice place.

Just what I was thinking. Maybe someone should try linking it here.

I lived in Henderson when I was a kid... Lots of public courts, casinos near, and Vegas is down the road some 30-45 minutes away. Seemed safe to me. I dunno if it was terribly expensive, I didnt think about those kinds of things back then.

Vomiting Vultures Completely Take Over Couple’s Luxury Vacation Home
Dozens of the large black birds are reportedly defecating and vomiting all over a New York couple’s pricy Florida house.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A New York couple’s luxurious vacation house in Florida has been taken over by dozens of black vultures that are vomiting and defecating everywhere.
The Palm Beach Post reports the Casimano family can’t even visit the $702,000 home they purchased earlier this year in the Ibis Golf and Country Club.
Siobhan Casimano described the smell as “like a thousand rotting corpses.” The vultures have destroyed screen enclosures, and have overtaken the pool and barbeque. The few times the family has visited, they’ve had to park their car in the garage or the birds peck at them with their beaks.

Just replace with Phuket so that it's One Night in Phuket, but seriously, really?! How about retiring in the Pantanal region?

Phuket has a lot going for it. It’s still affordable (just), great climate, great food, great infrastructure (relatively speaking), great medical facilities, world class golf facilities and I imagine also some pretty decent tennis clubs and players (amongst the well heeled expat set who have settled there.)

Have you ever been there?

Best place to retire? Depends a great deal on how wealthy one is. Also, at what age one retires, 45-50-60-oops35. Why would some look for the best place to retire if they can afford 2-3 retirement locations. Ya know move with the seasons.

Switzerland. Move in next to Federer
I actually looked into retiring to Switzerland and it won't happen for anyone unless they are wealthy (and I mean quite wealthy). You have to invest into the canton you wish to live in, and the cost of loving in Switzerland is prohibitively expensive. I live very well in the US and have abundant discretionary income, but in Switzerland, I wouldn't even meet the residency requirements:

You have to give more details. Are you an American and wish to retire to the US, or do you wish to retire abroad? Narrow that down for better and more logical replies. I have many colleagues who have retired in Costa Rica, Belize, Poland and Serbia/Croatia. Most returned to the States for myriad reasons.

From Bay Area California. Thinking if staying here or San Diego, Las Vegas, or Hawaii

Orlando lol.
I've driven there plenty of times from Charleston, for the Disney stuff, and loved the place.
But all one day visits. That was in the 90s.

The drives were gruelling, during long weekends, so slow traffic throughout the 12 or whatever hours it was :(

I wouldn't mind retiring in Charleston, SC.

But I guess wooden mind some nice quiet place in Australia not too far from @Tennease :D

Wood you mind to consider bourbon street in new orleans to come fool circle and retire from the tire business and see everyone in your life revert and playback to you?

Retire in the countryside. Medical is virtually free, property inexpensive, loads of expat assistance and information for help.

Phoenix seems to fit your requirements. Many public courts. Good weather for tennis, lots of tournaments.

Inexpensive, lots to do, and great health care.

What do you mean great health care? It is the same reasonably good standard everywhere in the US unless it is a remote place or a very rare disease. The main issue is cost.
