once again hes top ten. you dont stay in the top ten pushing forehands. the guy is ripping the crap out of the ball just less then he used. i get that you dont like the guy but his forehand is still an effective shot he wouldnt be top ten without it.

and i voted for roddick cause i hate federer.

Yeah you can. Roddick wins matches by holding serve and then giving opponenets junk and waiting for the error.

ever seen him live? ive watched him from the court next to him and he hits the crap out of the ball. what you consider spinning in and what he does is very different. if he just spun the ball in he would never win. hes hitting the ball hard just with more spin than he used to.

Djokovic is too inconsistent, Verdasco hasn't shown any consistency results wise, and Gonzalez is the only one that is arguably better.

Roddick also has a great head to head with Gonzo I believe. Gonzo is his personal beetch a little bit.

I'd say Federer is better, especially now.

Roddicks' forehand is getting consistent though, yet still powerful and more depth now. That's good

Yeah I have. And duh all pros seem to hit the ball hard to club players. But relative to other pros, especially fellow top 10 players, he just loops the forehand in. Lets compare his forehand to Djokovic and Federer. It is definitely not a penetrating forehand anymore. Even at his best his forehand has no variety. All he ever did was whack it hard and flat. Now and then he can still flatten it out on fast courts such as the one DC is being played on. But a flat and hard forehand doesn't equal a great forehand.

WTF, good forehand doesn't equal consistency. If we're talking about the individual shot Djokovic, Verdasco, and Gonzalez all have better forehands than Roddick. Djokovic and Gonzalez definitely, I guess Verdasco is debatable. How is Roddick more consistent than Djokovic wtf? Djokovic in 08 had more points than Roddick ever had even as number one and Djokovic is playing in a tougher era as well. When has Roddick ever won the TMC plus a GS plus AMS on two different surfaces all in one year? Not to mention beaten a number one player in a slam.

Roddick's starting to find his form on that shot. Took out some solid competition in Stepanek and Hewitt, and was able to rip a few good FHs.

Federer though, seems pretty defensive now adays. Although no one has seen him play recently in the past few months, at the AO, he was extremely defensive off this side at times.

I'd say Roddick's 2004 FH would be #3. Nadal can use more angles and defend better off this side, but the 2004 Roddick FH is definitely ridiculous when it is on (Federer received a dosage of this at the Wimbledon 2004 final for the first set).

Roddick also had that ridiculously angled inside out forehand that he would rip in the service box. But I agree, Nadal's has crazier angles.

I will put it simply.

-Roddick never had a better forehand than Federer.
-Roddick was never a better player than Federer.
-Federer has many more forehand winners than Roddick in all but maybe 2 or 3 matches they have ever played.

The end.

your wrong. its ok to be wrong because you are. he doesnt just roll it in. he wouldnt have wins if he just rolled it in. he hits the ball extremely well.

And besides, what CAN you do with a forehand? What does federer do with it? What does Nadal do with it? Ok, you can hit ii flat, with topspin, slice it or curve it. Can Federer and Nadal do all of those? Yes. Can Roddick? Yes. Do they use each type very often? No. Does that mean Santoro has a better forehand?

He does just spin it in. He rarely takes the iniative in rallies, he only does enough with the forehand so that it can not be attacked. His forehand is just not a great shot. Back in 04 it was a semi great shot but he made a lot of errors and all he could do effectively was hitting flat.

apparantly if you dont hit everyone 100 mph you suck. there seems to be an unfair judgment put on andy cause people dont like him. hes the popular kid that everyone loves to hate. guy is top ten in the world and with the way people talk about him you would think that he would barely make it onto a womens 2.0 team.

Everything is relative. Roddick is an excellent player compared to most but compared to guys like Federer and Nadal and even Djokovic I would say, it's easy to see areas where he's lacking.

all those "glorious" winners that you mention roddick pulling off

fed does those on a day to day basis lol

In the first set of Roddick's AO QF this year he didn't hit any winners from the baseline, that should tell you how aggressive he is on his forehand. Djokovic was already beginning to suffer from the heat in the 1st set too.

May I ask how so?

Roddick did not have a better forehand than Federer even 6 years ago. In their 3 matches Federer dominated Roddick forehand to forehand in 2 of the 3 (Wimbledon semis and year end Masters semis) and only in the match in Canada they were about even off that side. Federer was really the best player that year, not Roddick. Roddick ended #1 since Nalbandian was a huge Federer nemisis that year and kept taking Federer out when they met and costing him alot of points.

And there are more than 23 Fed TROLLS, who are still silenced by
Federer's predictable brainlessness on hardcourt,
grass and clay. HAAAAHAHAHAHAHA
It's ok. Real tennis fans actually know that forehands come
from leg positioning, flexibility and fast running to the forehand takeback. Fat tennis players with Roddick's height had the same trouble, idiots.
