Busted strings within 30 minutes of hitting

All,

I am a fairly unseasoned player (3.0 - 3.5 / 1 year experience) that recently purchased a racquet from TW strung with Wilson Sensation Synthetic Gut.

Within 30 minutes of hitting the strings busted (serving the ball, 7th / 8th row from top, 1st-4th from edge on prostaff midsize reissue racquet).

I find this to be extremely atypical result for me (not the off center hit, but the busting) -- would I be correct in assuming it was a bad string job or bad strings (if either exists?)

If so would it be unreasonable for me to ask for an additional set of strings be shipped to me at no charge?

Thanks for your feedback!

Hard to get a new set for free. Could be just a bad shank. I believe wilson sensation is multi string so it won't be very durable.STill, unusual to break within 30min of play. You might just be unlucky.

sounds like a kink while stringing. i played sensation for quite a while some years back, first as full job and then as cross string and i only had a similar experience when i had some grommet issue on one of my frames. the string used to break at the frame though, so replacing the faulty grommet fixed the issue.
you can surely try to ask for a free set. more than having a polite NO as reply you will not experience.

Could just be a shank. Sensation is not a durable string. It's designed to be comfortable. The 17g is great, but it broke in about an hour when I hit with it. The 16g is not quite as nice, but also quite comfy and would normally last 6 or so hours. However, if you string it tighter it will break quicker. Also it does not need to notch much to break, so a tight string job on a smaller stiffer frame could be a recipe for failure with that string.
