Calibrating Pacific string digital 700 stringing machine

Hello

I wonder if someone can explain me how to calibrate the Pacific string digital 700 stringing machine.

I know how to check the tension being pulled by the tension-head ( digital fish/bicycle scale with scrap strings ) but I can't see any adjustment knob or screw where I can calibrate the machine if the tension is off ?

Below is a picture of a similar machine, mine has a different tension-head but the electronics are identical.

Service manual for the pacific stringing machines doesn't mention any calibration actions... see below

Thanks for your help

At the upper arrow you can see a spring and a knurled screw. When you turn the knurled screw, the tension weight changes. When it is correct again, lock it with the long nut so that it does not change again.
When you remove the cover, please disconnect the power.
Good luck with the calibration.

Agree. Some eCP calibrate at multiple ref tensions as well as some LOs IIRC. But with some LOs, you ‘only’ have to do it near where you frequently pull ref tension. Just curious

No, I have not. But I have calibrated Gamma ELS and NEOS 1000 heads. They all require you do the check at 3 tension ranges, which is why I am asking. If the answer is at one point, it makes an assumption about linearity that may or may not be true depending on string and ref tension.... I am just curious.

Ah OK thanks for your explanation.
These machines were manufactured by Apparatebau Diro in Germany (about 25-30 years ago) and had a direct service partner at Pacific until about 10 years ago.
I think this is no longer the case. Therefore there is no official calibration manual.
I have only posted the picture where you can see the screw to calibrate.

Do you know which company manufactured Pacific stringing machines after Diro closed?

Thanks for your help, I will give it a bash when I find some spare time.

I assume I just check the tension it pulls by putting a digital scale with some scrap string from 1 clamp to the pull head ?

@headradicalalbe How to calibrate an E-machine can certainly be read elsewhere.
Well I would check and adjust it with several pull weights (20,25 u.30kg).
By how much does the machine currently pull inaccurately?

So I think they were only in the catalog. They never existed in real life - at least nothing was ever known where you could buy the DX6 or DX8.
Search Page 27:
Designed for Your Success - PDF Kostenfreier Download (docplayer.org)

2010 Stringing Machine Data (tennisindustrymag.com)
There were prices from $6,000 to $10,000.

I only saw the DX6 used by the Pacific stringing team at Halle. I never saw evidence of a DX8 except in the catalog. I think that it may have been only so they could claim to have one of the most expensive stringing machines.

There is also a DX 7 on Pacific's HP under "downloads" in the catalog on page 14.
I don't know of any store where you can buy one of these.
They do a very hidden advertising.

seems to be an xpider

Hi @fritzhimself, I have the same machine model as the one in the picture, but I couldn't find the screw you mentioned. Can you show me in that picture where is it? I just bought this model a few days ago, and it was not used for a long period of time so I suspect it is not well-calibrated.

Any help will be appreciated.

Best regards,

Ivan

Hi @headradicalbe, I have the same machine as the one in the picture, but I couldn't find the screw to recalibrate it. Could you give me a hint where I can find it? Maybe you could point me on that picture if you don't mind.

Thanks in advance.

A few weeks ago I was stringing a racket and while the machine was pulling tension on a string I got distracted by my 3 year old and I let the machine pull for too long on the string (+ 2 minutes) a puff of smoke came out the machine and it stopped working.

Yesterday I opened up the machine to find what part gave up and the only thing I could find was 2 wires that were melted together, hopefully it's an easy fix.

If anyone is curious what a Pacific string tronic 700 looks like on the inside
