I was taking lessons last week with a group of people at my club. We were playing "king of the court" where the king stands a few feet from the net and balls are fed to the other side at the service line. The person is then supposed to approach from the baseline, hit the approach shot at the service line and move in to take the volley from the king on the other side. The approach shots are supposed to be aimed at the king's backhand.
I was the king and after a few passes by the others (about 7 people) this guy takes a high feed and slams it at me about twice the speed as any balls had been hit before. The ball missed my left eye by about an inch and struck the curtain at the back of the court on the fly. I didn't even have time to react. He was only about 10 feet away.
It stunned me for a moment and then I stopped and told the guy that that was uncalled for and that what he did wasn't right. He mumbled something but it was apparent to me he didn't give a damn what he had done, as if to say, what's the big deal. Later, he followed me out of the parking lot and apologized saying he didn't mean to do it. I told him he did mean to do it and if he did it again I was going to ******. There was no way he didn't mean it. How should I have handled the situation. I was pretty upset.
