Awesome - people want tennis to be more like basketball or baseball, which is why the media supports Kyrgios' antics - this is right in line with that ;)

Whose match did they hold it up in?

If they're Fed fans I suppose there's a black humour to it. If they're Djoko fans they should be ashamed of themselves. Being a fan is supposed to be about celebrating your guy winning, not that someone lost. I hate seeing this sort of stuff in football and would find it depressing if it spreads to tennis.

It's not funny though.

I can't see how it's funny. Tennis is a brutal game and you accept that for someone to win another person is devastated. Making a mockery of that isn't right. I wanted Stan to win in FO 15 but I realised that for Novak it must have been heartbreaking. The idea of making a sign laughing at that makes me cringe - I literally don't get how people could do stuff like that.

It’s one thing doing it on a message board but several magnitudes lower to bring it court side.

It was during Novaks match, not Feds.

I dont get what’s the big deal. It’s super funny!

If it was in Feds match it would be cruel. This is not. They support Novak and it’s a brilliant idea. What Novak did there in SW19 was incredible.

Ok, funny might have been the wrong word. It wouldn't have been creative then.

And for the "5 times Wimbledon champion" message, it also resulted in five occasions when someone else was devastated. Guess that suggestion is out the window now too, amirite?

The winner came back from 40-15. The loser wasted it. It always takes two to tango. Whether that presentation was more about praising the comeback or mocking the choke is up to how you interpret it. And how strongly you feel about either case is also up to you.

It was during Djokovic's first match since then so I'd like to think the focus was on him, not on hurting Fed's feelings... Or making his fans upset or "cringe", which takes little effort these days anyway.

If it had been the other way round and Fed fans had held this up you would have used it as an example of how horrible Fed fans are.
But Fed fans don't do that, we are more focused on him. Djoker and his fans care about Fed and how Djoker relates to him. This is a win for us Fed fans.

The crowd in Wimbledon during that final was like 10.000 of those two sitting there ;)

Fed fans should keep their mouth shut when it comes to fan behaviour during a final between these two.

There's a big difference celebrating someone's win and someone's defeat.

Losing something like Wimbledon after having match points must be incredibly painful - writing a poster that specifically mocks that rather than the fact that someone won is tasteless and lacking in empathy.

If it had been the other way round and Fed fans had done this I would also have hated it.

And given that Djoko fans often feel he's not appreciated enough do they really think this will help? I doubt that Djoko would have enjoyed it if he saw it - these guys know better than anyone what the experience must feel like.

Again, it's how you interpret it. Whether it highlights the comeback or the choke. Realistically, the truth is around the middle, since both guys are mentioned, and it was during the match of a guy who came back. If they did that during Federer's random match, I probably wouldn't have approved it, though I have high tolerance. But it wasn't, and his fans should be able to handle it by now anyway. The healthy ones at least. It's been a month.

You were willing to excuse them for black humor in the highly unlikely event that they are Fed fans. Even though it would look like "showing lack of empathy" in that case too. So I am not sure I buy the I would have hated it the other way around too claim.

If a couple of barely noticeable guys in the crowd showing 40-15 posters will have a future impact on the grand scheme of things and if it really compares to the lack of respect Djokovic has endured throughout the years, like Arthur Ashe Stadium cheering all his mistakes and Center Court booing him in crucial moments, then the world is truly messed up.

Sorry, I meant if Djoko had lost the match and Fed fans had made the sign. That wasn't clear.

Obviously, the sign hurts more if you're a Fed fan. But I still think the principle is wrong. And I literally don't understand it. Fed beating Nadal in AO 17 was one of the happiest moments of my life but I still saw it was horrible if you were Nadal or one of his fans - I can't imagine being at a match and holding up a sign mocking Nadal with "5 in a row" or something like that. I would hate the thought he or his fans might see it and wonder what sort of person does that. And why would I want to, Fed won, why rub Nadal's fans' noses in it and make them feel even worse?

Maybe I'm just too old. People write all sorts of stupid, horrible things on social media and never seem to care what it makes others think of them. We all hurt people without meaning it but why does anyone set out to do it?

Funny. All hell breaks loose on here because two fans held up a 40-15 sign, but all we do on here is talk s*** about the other fanbases and their player.
