Coaching / Lessons

Hi,

I've been reading this forum for a while now, and I thank everyone for sharing their vast amount of tennis knowledge for FREE.

I think I have reached a point where merely reading techniques on a forum will take me. As I want to get beyond this point, I think it's finally time to go get some lessons.

So, after that ramble here are my questions:
1. What should I expect from lessons?
2. Obviously cost is going to vary, but is there a general range in costs?
3. I'm in my mid 20's right now, and basically picked up tennis about a year ago, is there going to be some sort of discrimination where the good coaches would prefer to spend time with younger kids with more potential?

Thanks for reading this, and thanks in advance for any responses.

P.S. I know there are a bunch of people on this forum from the NYC / LI area. To those people, do any of you have some recommendations for lessons? Or possibly are any of you coaches yourselves? Thanks again.

1. You should expect to work on what you want to work on, tell the coach what you want and where you are headed. You can go for technique or/and tactics on any or all strokes. Try not to work on too many new things in one lesson

2. i don't know I am not from the US

3. A good coach should want to spend time with who ever is paying the bills, basically everyone pays the same amount and should get the same service. Teaching adults can be very rewarding for a coach as it is easier to speak on a straight level to someone who is keen to learn, sometimes kids don't relate as easily and are not always 100% keen.
