Hi all vintage racket fans,

I have some great news for all European collectors and fans of vintage tennisrackets.
To commemorate Donnay's centenial anniversary, Michel Guilluy is organizing a large exposition and collectors convention in Verviers in December this year.

We want as many collectors to come in the weekend of Dec. 28/29 to show off 15 of their nicest, rarest, oddest or oldest rackets.

Still, it's a rather unique event so I encourage anyone that has the opportunity to come and participate.
I know that there are some major temptations lurking around the corner but I know you can withstand them if you really want..

Unfortunately not, I'm staying in Tucson only.
Found a tennis partner locally and will play tomorrow.
He's a collector too.

Tennis Collecting Australia & Rest of the World

Massive support to your new EURO group from Tennis Heritage Australia group. We now have a Sydney and Melbourne group only because we have yet to find some team leaders in other states. We meet a couple of times a year just to share some stories, invite special guests along, do show and tell etc..... We mix up venues as well. In Melbourne this includes MCC (home of tennis up to 1910's) Albert Reserve (first Davis Cup venue outside UK 1908), Royal Melbourne Tennis Club (Real Tennis), Grace Park Tennis Club and Tennis Australia HQ at Melbourne Park. I notice a few Australians in this forum so please drop me a line if interested rod@tacticalresponse.net.au Also we are well connected globally so if anyone wants to start or join a group also let me know. Hi Joe, don't forget UK collectors. It is really important to keep building the global network. Tennis players are usually great people and collectors are proving to be very passionate. There are many researchers and authors uncovering the stories of players and equipment. Donnay is new. Rod Laver has just published a new book as well.

Hey Rod, would love to find more about the UK club, do you have the url link ?

What is the link to the Aussie Club ?

I would like to get all the links together in these threads so that it is more easy for collectors to find clubs in thier areas or when visiting areas. These boards are great ways to help get collectors together and organize some meetings like Hans did with the Belgium meet up. I believe the Tennis Colletors of America (TCA) have an annual meeting every year before the USO around the time of the Newport grass court tourney at the tennis HOF in newport

Just got back from the States last week.
I met a local silent collector in Tucson. He's a tennis pro and just for fun started to collect rackets. Most were given by students or friends just because they knew he was interested in old stuff.
He's got over 300 rackets including some beauties such as the Edberg's Wilson Javelin, a Seiko "Erge" like racket and plenty of other must haves.
He had no idea there were more like him. He even has a "Legend" group of people that impersonate players like Borg, Connors etc up to Kuerten. Not just look a likes but accurate dress codes and dito moves and behaviour.
His name is John Perry.
He was planning on joining this forum so, John, if you are around, welcome....!!

Yeah he's my coach! He told me today how you wrote about him (not sure if pleased or not haha). He's probably one of the best coaches I ever had. He's really wanting to create an account but can't find a name.

The other day he dressed as Pat Cash. Black and White checkered bandana, Sergio Tacchini apparel, and Diadora (or Tretorn) shoes he wore on his Wimbledon victory. He even has the Prince racquet that Cash used (marketed? I don't know if they had PJ's back then).
