Not only I play with compression shorts, I go full body compression gear when I take very long flights. They help the blood circulation a lot.
Yes, for lowering the risk of DVT, compression leggings and socks are a good idea.
I have two pair of Skins and a mix of Nike and Rebok. To be honest the skins do a better job. The gradient compression they use feels better. They are the Rolls Royce of compression. Costly but I think its worth it if you have the cash.
Hmm. Would you say the nike and rebok do nothing or still better than just not wearing any compression? I'm trying to decide which to go. I don't want to be cheap but the price difference is massive. Getting 2-3 of those is a ton of cash. As I don't want to be washing one multiple times a week.
As mentioned, 2XU, then Skins, are the best made and longest lasting compression garments. I still have my 2XU from 5 years ago and it gives better compression than any new UA/Nike/Adidas crappy 'compression' garments, but it is about 3x the price. Skins fits me a little better and are cheaper than 2XU, which tends to aim at triathletes as core customer base. Subsport is a brand I've tried which is about 90% of Skins but 50% the price, but it just didn't fit me as well.
Wearing 7-9" compression shorts under tennis shorts increase temperature, despite all the talk about wicking technology marketing BS. If you play in warm temperatures and can warm up properly, then a pair of jockstraps is probably the best for match play, then use the compression long sleeve shirts and leggings for recovery.
Lol wow. So compression is not to keep your junk in place, and sizing up to give your crotch more room defeats the purpose of the compression. If it’s tight there, wear them a bit lower so it doesn’t ride up into your groin.
Skins and 2XU have anatomical crotch space which are more comfortable than the 'castrati' cheap stuff out there!
