Federer was probably written off in early 2012, because he hadn't won a slam since 2010 Australian Open, and then written off again at the end of 2016:)

It always seems like professional experts are commenting on here with all the discussions of the surface, balls used etc. on how the courts are playing speed wise. But then again, two commenters will use the exact same evidence to point to their conclusions where one claims its quick and the other claims its slower than clay.
courts might be fast still,, I only see small amount of grit on the court, that means fast. but is the balls slow ?? Dunlop balls are usually slow and heavy

so that's why 2011 Roland Garros was fast, they used Babolat instead of Dunlop:)

I don't know what to make of these new balls. They seem to play distinctly different. They seem "light" and a bit lifeless. Seems like these Dunlop balls won't support too much spin and are tailor-made for flat hitters. Disadvantage for both Federer and Rafa I would say. Though the fact that they don't fluff up and bounce that much might favour Federer. They seem a lot like the RG 2011 balls.

Organisers know who pays the bills and gets the backsides in the seats.

Everyone knows him, he's my favourite and, dear reader, statistically speaking he's yours too!

whatever makes the points short favors Rafael, because his body has fallen apart recently on hardcourt, and his serve is faster than ever....or fastest since 2010uso:)

If Federer = fast; else slow.

I know this is a joke and I took it in stride, but you know what else I find funny? People like to make this joke or some variation of it that includes Nadal or Djokovic, but then they look at the results the last 2 years and suddenly it isn't so funny anymore.

My point is, Federer actually is a better fast surface player than Nadal or Djokovic if you look at their whole careers and it isn't even close quite frankly. The jokes are funny, don't get me wrong, but they lose the plot a little bit when Federer actually does win the tournament.
