cyclone to Revolution

I have decided to try some different polys after staying with cyclone 18 for 3 years. TW has given Solinco Revolution a great review. So, I bought a set of the 18g to try in my prestige mid in a hybrid setup. Has anyone used both and made the switch? Nothing against cyclone but I feel it's just time to try something new.

I'm in the minority here I know, but I'd take Cyclone over Revolution any day.

I love Tour Bite and TB soft, Revolution I just can't like for some reason.

YMMV, Revolution has many fans on this forum, I just have no idea why. [emoji3]

I've tried both and I like Revolution better. Although cyclone is a few dollars cheaper, I found Revolution to be better in all categories. Spin is slightly more, tension maintenance is better, and cyclone feels more plasticky imo.

I'm currently looking to do the same thing. I've been using Cyclone 17 for around a year, but it dies on me too quickly. I tried out Revolution 17 instead, and think I might make the switch. It certainly seemed to last longer, and I liked the feel a lot (possibly better than Cyclone). Not sure if I get as much spin as Cyclone, but it's enough. I've got to finish out my reel of Cyclone first. I may try a couple more packs of Revolution, or try a couple other alternatives, before taking the plunge with a reel.

My brother went from Cyclone 16 to Revolution 16. He was kinda forced to because our shop wouldn't provide Cyclone anymore...I think it was a better move overall because he likes the added control and tension maintenance. In his opinion, spin and power were relatively the same.

I'm interested to see what you think. I've got a new DR98 that I'm trying to find a good setup for. I have tried Cyclone and Hyper G so far. Revolution is next and then Tour Bite and possibly TB Soft. I have experience with all of them in my other racquets, except for Revolution.

The strings you listed are not of the same feel. If you have a frame that filters the sensation from the ball similar to the DR98, go with strings that have worked similar in the older frame. Cyclone, Hyper G, and Revolution are similar in that they are fairly muted or dead feeling. Tour Bite and Soft have a metallic feel. DR98 is said to have a dead or muted or damp feel. Unless you want a very lifeless racquet, I would look at more lively strings like the two Solincos, a nylon-based string, or a setup with Zyex. My racquet in my signature has a dead feel. That adds to the feel of the string, but too much deadness is unbalanced. Red polys seem to work very well in it, as well as natural colored multis. Try some crisp strings for the DR98.

Yeah, I was referring to Tour Bite and Tour Bite Soft when I said the two Solincos. You'll save a lot of time and effort if you identify the characteristics you're looking for strings for a given style of racquet. I'd skip the Revolution for now and try the two Tour Bites.

I've used Rev for a couple of years. I've used Cyclone, Cyclone Tour, and Cyclone V-Torque and have tested lots of combinations and tensions. I like them all. V-Torque is ridiculous strung at low tension, but it doesn't last very long. Cyclone Tour has more power, but it goes mushy pretty quickly unless strung at low tensions. Cyclone is the mother ship. It just works. Revolution fits in between Cyclone and Cyclone Tour, but it last longer, a lot longer. Oddly enough, I'm using Rev in the mains, and Cyclone in the crosses, and love this combo. For whatever reason, I'm getting better spin and duration than all Revolution or all Cyclone. I used a Head Youtek Extreme MP strung at 51/48. Will be moving to either the Yonex DR 98 or the Babalot Project 1 seven, depending on which one fits me best.

I strung up revolution today in my prestige mid at 38 lbs and crossed with prince premier power at 40. Will take it to the courts shortly.
