Del Potro looks ridiculous

Del Potro looks like he just jumped off a gondola in a canal in Italy, or just escaped from Rikkers Island.

That Nike cutoff has to be the UGLIEST shirt ever. The shirt Monfils has on isn't far behind.

Nike hasn't made a shirt I liked since the 80's. It's actually kind of astounding how terrible their designs are. Adidas all the way.

Nike goes through cycles of great to good to not-so-good, but honestly, do you really think Del Potro has any real say in what he wears? The man's getting paid to wear that stuff. If Nike offered me a hefty amount of money to get out there and play my matches something akin to Serena's catsuit, ya know what...I'd do it.

Good thing none of those guys give a rats a** about what we think of their outfits. They would be really upset.

when was the last time nike actually put out a line that was not hideous for the delpo, moya, nadal, blake, monfils "group"???

He'd look good if he wasnt so skinny...

But who cares... look how well he is playing... clothes arent going to help play better...

Yep. Its a very ugly outfit.

At least hes winning though. Its ok to look bad and win.

however to look bad and lose is... not good :)

Nike is definitely trying to capitalize on the youth market but me thinks they're WAAAYYYY off the mark. They're attempting to inject Andre's flair into a generation of youth that simply isn't like that. The teenagers today are on a different level, not to mention that Andre was in a league of his own.

Bloomberg Markets cover story is on Nadal and how Nike is using him to attract the 17 and under segment, while Fed is marketed to the 25 and older. Putting Nadal in sleeves is the start of shifting him upmarket. I guess that DP/Monfils getup is targeted at the tweeners. Can't believe someone got paid to design that. There's gotta be a method to the madness???

I think Nike rightly changed Nadal away from the capris-pirate look at exactly the right time. Don't really like his new stuff, but it does look more mature.

Hideously putrid, or putridly hideous. Take your pick. The sleeveless shirts are bad enough, but the garish colors and those stripes...ugh. Seven year old girls could pull off that look, but grown male athletes - nope.

Del Potro looks like George Michael when he was in Wham! "Wake me up before you go go ..."

I like sleeveless shirts, but I concur with most of you here. Nike's new line isn't just ugly ... it's FUGLY!

Ditto to the guy who said Nike hasn't put out a decent looking line in a while. I mean, I like some of the stuff they've put out over the past few years, but when it comes to the sleeveless designs ... yikes! You'd think they could muster a more attractive looking design especially given the prices they charge for their stuff.

No wonder Nadal opted for sleeves! One look at the new sleeveless design would leave anyone saying, "No mas!."

From a marketing point of view, many people don't just by stuff that their favourite players use, but stuff that look good on players.

Also I agree with some of you in that nike is marketing some products for more mature players (the fed line) but don't forget that roger won't be playing for many years, and they need a top player to target us who love a more classic/mature look, thus they'll be changing rafa's style year after year. It's not the teens who have deep pockets to buy all gear they throw to us.

Surprised ppl aren't making much mention of 2 particular factors that I think have a major influence here; namely Del Potro's giant, gawky, gangling height and his "unusual" facial features that wouldn't look out of place among The Munsters or The Addams Family!

not impressed by the nike stuff this year. not a big fan of the neon garbage - it wasn't great 20 years ago either.

just about the only shirt from nike that I like this year is this one

I guess I like the more understated look...

Don't know..........

Really don't know what's up with the designers at Nike, but DelPos outfit is much better than Rafas Crusty the Clown costume, man is that bad.

Totally agree, also IMO Rafa's outfit looks mis-matched, what with the nicely fitted polo and then the baggy shorts.
