Delpo as third in the rankings post the AO?

As of now, he's third in the rankings. That is, if we subtract last years AO points.

Then we have:
Delpo: 5255 - 90 = 5165
Ferrer: 5640 - 720 = 4920
Murray: 5560 - 1200 = 4360

If Ferrer gets to the semis and Delpo loses in the quarters, Ferrer will retain the no. 3. If Ferrer reaches the quarters and Delpo loses in the first three rounds, Ferrer will retain it.
Murray needs a minor miracle to keep his place in the top four. A final would go a long way though.

So - do you think he'll get to no. 3 for the first time in his career?
If he beats Nadal, he would certainly have earned it.

Rankings: http://www.atpworldtour.com/Rankings/Singles.aspx (I've subtracted points for Ferrer)

He will get to at least 4. 3 is also a strong possibility.

Murray's going to have a tough year but I hope he pulls through.

After Miami, he's has very few points to defend until Wimbledon. If he's fit he can pick up in excess of 1000 points through the end of the US swing and clay court season. I imagine his focus is on retaining his Wimbledon title. If he does that then he has a good shot at maintaining No.3 and threatening the top two. That all depends on how Djokovic does. Nadal has so many points to defend between the end of the AO and Wimbledon that he needs all the points he can get during that period to avoid dropping to No.3. I do t see him going on a points fest in the US hard court /clay court seasons this year.

It's not about changes after an individual tournament. It's about the long game.
