He needs to stay healthy though During clay season he had respiratory problems, before and during the USO, wrist injury and couldn't hit a proper backhand. Juan Martin needs a bigger serve than he has, he is so tall. He shouldn't be grinding like Nadal or djokovic. It puts tremendous pressure on him physically.

What a joke. First off even if Del Potro were good enough it still wouldnt happen, as there is too much out there for him to deal with.

Nadal is going to make sure he breaks Federer's slam record so that is atleast another 5 slams for him.

Djokovic and Murray will both probably win a couple more atleast each, so that is atleast another 4, but could be alot more than that.

We already probably have atleast 3 years worth of slams and we havent factored in the up and comers who might break through and have more chance of winning future slams than Del Potro would have. By the time opportunities open up for others Del Potro will be almost 30.



Then to the point he isnt nearly good enough anymore. He hasnt had a big win in a slam since 2009 unless you count beating David Ferrer once a big win, haha. He runs out of gas in long matches. His forehand doesnt have nearly the power he used to have. He is majorly injury proned. He just lost to a 100 year old Hewitt at the U.S Open. His movement which was never any good is much worse now. Not going to happen sorry. Maybe he will win 1 more slam and a couple Masters, but even that isnt certain. If he achieves that his fans should be very happy though, and not get crazy dreams of anymore than that, but just set nice realistic hopes which are still probably unlikely such as those.

Nadal was utter rubbish in the 2nd half of 2009. Something like 2-13 vs top 10 opponents. Beating him around then was no feat and you know it, unless you never followed tennis around the time and only grew to love Del Potro from youtube clips.

I will give him his win over Federer in the final. That was impressive. Still though Federer choked so many opportunities to win that 2nd set I lost count and it would have been a straight sets win for Federer otherwise. Del Potro overpowered him in the 4th and 5th sets but it shouldnt have even gotten to that point.

He also avoided playing Djokovic and Murray who are awful opponents for him, probably worse ones than Federer or a strong (not the one he even played there) Nadal.

Delpo has proven time again that he can get hot for one tournament and then fall to a nobody the very next week. Once the top 4 fizzle out I'm sure he'll have some great runs here and there, but he's not a future #1. He's way too inconsistent for that.

Don't forget Federer was serving atrociously in the final. 50% with something like 11 double faults. Delpo is by no means a return giant to be posting those kinds of numbers with serve quality Federer possesses.
