Where is Donald Young? Was the offseason not long enough for him? I know he made a long run at the Aussie:roll: but I would think that it's time to start playing tournaments again you know.

Maybe, he now considers the challengers beneath him??

Haha, this is so funny. Andrew Painter won today in the 1st round of qualies. I used to take lessons from him and used to hit with him at the Lakes Tennis Academy. This is probably the best tennis academy in Dallas area. Andrew is from Australia and he has a big serve and volley game, absolutely HUGE serve.

I'm watching the KJ final qualifying match right now. I looked up his activity and see prior to December he's been missing for about 3 years. Any idea what's up? Serious injury?

Hey man much thanks. I remember watching this last year and seeing Pless absolutely destroy his racket after losing to Simmons

Depends on who you talk to. Some say it was an injury, some say he took time off to go back to school Hopefully we'll get an answer from the tournament this week.

I'm watching McClune-Warburg right now. Go Michael! :)

That sounds mysterious. I see he has a biology degree from Stanford in 2002, if he took it off for school what was he doing, medical school? He ended up winning. It was rugged looking match, not many 1st serves, lot's of breaks, and lots of unforced errors. I'll pull for him in the main draw.

I'm watching the McClune Warburg now. McClune's got a nice backhand. Warburg has a strange looking serve, opens up really early on it, but it seems really effective and he makes a good percentage.

Yeah, I think Med School was mentioned. I have a vague memory of him having a shoulder injury a few years back, so it could be both. We'll see if they get some answers this week since they are doing interviews and stuff.

Yeah, you were right, they have a post match interview with KJ up now. He says he was out for the 3 years because of 2 elbow surgeries. He didn't use it for this, but has a protected ranking of 170, so he can use that to get into 8 challenger tournaments.

you can answer all your questions in KJ's live post match interview. Click on the link. He tells you that he was injured and had 2 shoulder surgery. I thought he turned into a astronaut which he still plans on doing after this tennis career is over with. He is still wearing his Stanford Tennis Hat. What a Spirit......................:):):)

Incredible turn of events here. in the match with Jesse Witten vs Bruno Eshagaray, 3rd set tiebreaker 5-6, the lineswomen decides to call FOOTFAULT on the match point on the 2nd serve. Bruno went insane and broke the racket and destroyed the chair by the umpire and walked off and i have no idea what else he will do ??

I just saw that as well. Unbelievable. Announcers are absolutely stunned! I believe Bruno was up 5-1 in the 3rd set as well. What a way to go down.

What a sport Jesse Witten is. during his interview, he said if it was up to him, he would give Bruno another serve so that the match would not end like it did. he said it was really unfortunate that any match has to end like that.

That call against Bruno is about the most outrageous call I've ever seen anywhere. First, it didn't even look like an actual foot fault. Second, to call it for the first time on match point in a third set tiebreak? Shocking. These guys on the challenger circuit fight like hell for every match for little money. And for someone to lose that way? It's just a disgrace.

what a great job Craig does, he must be a really nice guy and must love the sport very much. Maybe it is not the best quality but i am certainly enjoing the livestream, also, if it were high quality most likely i couldnt see it with my very narrow wideband internet ;)

I was sad that I missed this.

Then I saw someone posted this!

Awesome. It's certainly not blatant, if he even did foot fault!

That SUCKS. I hit with Echagarray in 2000 or 01. He was a super cool guy and not a psycho. Foot fault on MP is absurd. They have to take into account the circumstances before issuing a fine.

BTW how does a Challenger in Dallas have better commentators than ESPN?

Way to go Lipsky and Martin. wins easily in the 1st round. Looks like another easy tournament win for the Stanford grads. They are on Fire, won the Hawaii challenger last week.

They said afterwards that Bruno will most likely be heavily fined and maybe suspended for what he did.

That's ********. He was *on serve* in a tiebreaker for the third set, and the linesperson called out a foot fault on a serve which was very far from a "clear" footfault (based on the video)... And the linesperson seemed a bit too gleeful to me when saying it... What's he being fined for? Tipping over a bench???? I'd have tipped the umps chair with the ump in it :p

A agree, I think he was very self controlled only to bust his racket and flip the chair. The foot fault was so uncalled for at match point. Clearly some "home cooking" there. The line judge was probably a member of the family that was housing Witten for the tournament. If the tournament has any descency they fined the line judge and didn't let him/her work any more matches. Bruno doesn't even step forward on his serve, he's a two foot planted server, so it's very doubtful he foot faulted, but if he did it must have been a very very minor foot fault. Also he was serving the same way all match so if he was doing any kind of foot faulting there was no need for the line judge to wait until 2nd serve on match point to call it. Absolutely unbelievable call and the worst I've ever seen in 20 years of watching tennis. Fire and fine the line judge!!!!

Exactly. I'm all for calling foot faults; they're against the rules. This situation is just screwed up though... It is highly, highly doubtful that he foot faulted for the very first time during match point, on his second serve. Even if he *did* foot fault, that was not the proper time to start enforcing it, they should have called these earlier in the match, so he knew he was doing it. It seems that the chances of this actually being a legit call (him actually foot faulting, and not foot faulting the entire match before) is incredibly slim. He certainly could have been more tactful, but I don't know many people who would take that sort of call without some sort of outburst.

Yeah that was a surprise when they gave me a shout out. Very cool. It's amazing how those two guys commentate on the match, interview the players, post the videos and troubleshoot the live stream, and at the same time they follow the message boards and even post messages.
