Some people are not real tennis fans, they are just fans of certain players. I've watched too many generations to think the sport revolves around one player.

Yeah, it is tough to be fans of next gens, these guys are all younger to us and they are so bad that we don't feel it worth watching them. Only way to even be fan of them is when all of our stars of the prev era are retired, slams race is over and a new chapter has begun with no conflict of interest, otherwise it is too premature to even be a fan. Lets say somebody is a fan of alcaraz/rune and then they are fans of djokovic/nadal too, then would these fans like it when the next gens spank the old stars? I doubt that. All the rune/alcaraz fans who are Novak fans will find it hard to root for him when he starts beating Novak at slams, so it is too early to decide whose fans we will be.

I've loved The Big 3 Era -- other than the acrimony among overzealous fans - mostly rooting in about equal measure for Rafa and Novak, but I've been following tennis for several decades before the start of Roger's career.
As such, I hope to still enjoy the game, and generally speaking, I like most players, and don't always root specifically for the top guys. (Look at my screen name -- he was very good, but never came close to dominating the tour.) If it's one player, I greatly enjoy watching Alcaraz, not sure what to think about Rune, and like Sinner but don't love his game. (Apt given his last name?) But yeah, I hope to just root for "tennis" and not worry about slam races and goats. May be refreshing.

True- LOL! For me, Tsitsipas because I mostly like his game, though I think he is probably a lost cause.

Hi Dad,
I was considering it but I want it to be completely open and not pigeon hole people into certain players.... Alcaraz would probably be a natural *successor" for Nadal - a Djokovic who is not also a fan of the Big 3 is probably unlikely to like Alcaraz for example.
Who knows.

The only player who shows some real promise and is interesting to watch is Alcaraz. The rest are typical nextgen. Maybe Alcaraz will also turn out to be overhyped but for now, he seems to have the best chance to carry the game for a while.

- Alcaraz. He has the upbringing of young Nadal, the playing style and confidence of young Djokovic. He's everything tennis needs in its new star.

If we're talking underdogs who don't get enough love, Casper Ruud is your man. 3 finals at 3 of the biggest tournaments, wins the Sportsmanship Award, and he still flies under the radar.
Also helps that he's not a catty b1tch like his Danish counterpart.
Weird pick as Djokovic is the worst role model on the tour.
