Djokovic overheads

Why do you think Djokovic overheads are not as good as top guys?

I think of two things.

1. Footwork running back. Djokovic is one of the fastest guys on the tour but he seems very lazy to get to best possible position running back. Especially playing great lobbers like Murray and Nadal.

2. Overheads take some power to be generated from shoulder and back.
Just look at best smasher in history. Sampras use his shoulder, forearm, everything in his smash just like serve. But Sampras was serving 125+ in older days ( I think with new rackets, he should get more power ).

Djokovic is not powerless but he is skinnier than most players. He usually takes safest smash possible, just putting the ball back not hitting it with much power.

Now Federer/Nadal hit it with lot of slice as well so he can add that to his game right away but him not hitting with lot of power is maybe big reason why his overhead sucks.

I wear contact lenses when I play.

I don't see how they could bother someone when they hit overheads (any more than when hitting other shots)

I agreed. I am a contact lens user, too. Soft contact lens never bothered me. But a Djoke fan swears it was the contact lens and not his techniques.

Must have been on some occasion. Djokovic wears lenses and sometimes have taken MTO for adjustment, but that affects every aspect of his game

Interesting about the contacts.

I wear contacts and they always move around when I play. I causes a lot of blurriness especially on overheads. I have lenses for astigmatism which have to be positioned a certain way in the eye.

This really could be a legit problem for ******.

They're not as bad as it's made out to be. People started bringing it up when discussing Djokovic's weaknesses or lack of rather. One thing that stands out, is that he doesn't hit them with as much conviction as someone like Federer or Nadal, which can sometimes get him into trouble (WTF RR against Federer for instance). They're both better at getting themselves into position for a harder overhead, than Djokovic is too.

I just find it a little odd that he'd have more of a problem with overheads than other shots. Though Djokovic bugs his eyes out every now and again to seat the contacts properly, so maybe they are ill-fitting.

Contacts are made to fit most people, but if your eye is a little flatter or rounder than usual it could lead to the lenses not fitting ideally.

I wear it and they bother me in some situations, especially my peripherial vision has affected by them as they can't help much with it.

Keeping Becker in wine and cigars is one overhead he could do without. Maybe BB is tax deductible.... Sure BB himself would know, or ask Steffi's dad.
